Chapter 1
It was a dreary night, and Remi was walking home from her friend Lotus’s house. It was cloudy, and the fog was starting to roll in. It was 10:30, yet she was walking because it was only a block from her house. Lately, creepy people have been coming and going through the town, from distant cities that are 10 times larger than where she lives. Remi felt as if someone was watching her, lurking in the shadows. Her parents kept telling her to look out for herself, because there had been many rape cases happening ever since Mayor Thompson was murdered. The unsub put a silver bullet in one ear and out the other. Mayor Thompson had vowed to protect the women and girls of Sleepy Hollow because when she was 15 she was raped herself by someone she cared about. She quoted: “No child, teenager, or woman should have to go through the physical and mental pain of rape. Rape not only has the possibility of taking about virginities and first kisses, but it makes it all worse because it takes away the passion you’d share with the person you deem special enough to lose your virginity to.” There were a lot of vigilantes that wanted away with Mayor Thompson’s rule. Before she was put into office, the old mayor didn’t give two shits about what rapists or hookers came and went. She put an end to it and someone finally got the guts to go and murder her. Mayhem broke loose after it happened, and everything has been shady and mysterious ever since. But enough of the past, let’s come back to the present.
