AN: I do not own Doctor Who or any of the characters. I don't own you either.
Your POV
"Oh, the life out there it dazzles!" The Doctor proclaimed from underneath the TARDIS console. You watched Amy, who seemed slightly nervous about having her fiancé Rory in the TARDIS. Following Amy attempting to kiss him, The Doctor had insisted that you should go and find Rory and take him on a trip. To say that Amy was unhappy with that decision would be an understatement. You didn't particularly mind Rory coming along with you; you liked the idea of having more people to travel with. "I mean, it blinds you to the things that are important. I've seen it devour relationships and plans..." The Doctor continued, as the main console produced a flurry of sparks, which caused Rory to jump. "It's meant to do that." The Doctor reassured him. "Because for one person to have seen all that, to taste the glory, and then go back, it will tear you apart. So, I'm sending you somewhere. Together."
"And what are we gonna do?" You asked. "We are not going to another museum."
"No, Y/N. I'm sure we can think of something to do." He replied.
"Whoa, what, like a date?" Amy interrupted. "You're sending us on a date?"
"Yes. Anywhere you want, any time you want. One condition, it has to be amazing!" The Doctor replied, climbing up the stairs to the main console. "The Moulin Rouge in 1890, the first Olympic Games! Think of it as a wedding present, because frankly, it's either this or tokens." With those words, he wandered over to Rory, and patted him on the shoulder. "It's a lot to take in, isn't it?" He questioned. "Tiny box, huge room inside. What's that about? Well, let me explain!"
"It's another dimension." Rory replied bitterly.
"It's basically another dimen... What?" The Doctor questioned.
"After Prisoner Zero, I've been reading up on all the latest scientific theories, FTL travel, parallel universes." Rory answered.
"I like the bit when someone says 'it's bigger on the inside'. I always look forward to that." The Doctor said, staring directly at Rory.
"So, this date, I'm kinda done with running down corridors. What do you think, Rory?" Amy interrupted.
"How about somewhere... romantic?" The Doctor asked, starting up the TARDIS.
"You might want to hold on to something." You said to Rory. "The journey is normally a bit bumpy."The moment you stepped out of the TARDIS, you knew roughly where you were. The boats kinda gave it away. "Venice!" The Doctor proclaimed. "Venezia! La Serenissima! Impossible city! Preposterous city! Founded by refugees running from Attila the Hun! It was just a collection of little wooden huts in the middle of the marsh, but became one of the most powerful cities in the world. Constantly being invaded, constantly being flooded, constantly just...beautiful!" The Doctor explained, wandering around, dragging you, Amy and Rory with him. "Ah, you've got to love Venice." He commented. "And many people did! Byron, Napoleon, Casanova. Oh, that reminds me..." The Doctor trailed off, checking his watch. "1580, that's alright. Casanova doesn't get born for another 145 years. Don't want to run into him. I owe him a chicken.""You owe Casanova a chicken?" Rory questioned.
"Long story. We had a bet." The Doctor called back, going to walk through an archway. As he did so, a short man appeared dressed entirely in black. He stepped in front of The Doctor saying, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Papers, if you please. Proof of residency, current bill of medical inspection." The Doctor produced his wallet and showed it to the man.
"There you go, fella." He stated. The man took the wallet and studied it for a moment. "All to your satisfaction, I think you'll find." The Doctor said. The man stared at the four of you in shock, which made you wonder what the papers said. "I am so sorry, Your Holiness." The man said, bowing at The Doctor. "I didn't realise."
"No worries, you were just doing your job." The Doctor replied, smiling at you and Amy. "What exactly is your job?"
"Checking for aliens." The man answered, causing you to look at The Doctor. "Visitors from foreign lands what might bring the plague with them." The man added.
"Great. Plague!" You commented. "Hooray!"
"Oh, that's nice!" Amy added. "See where you bring me? The plague!" With those words, she hit The Doctor on the arm.
"Don't worry Viscountess, we're under quarantine here." The man interrupted. "No one comes in, on one goes out, and all because of the grace and wisdom of our patron, Signora Rosanna Calvierri." The man pointed at the symbol on his board, which was a C in a diamond shape.
"How interesting. I heard the plague died out years ago." The Doctor answered.
"Not out there! No, Signora Calvierri has seen it with her own eyes! Streets are piled high with bodies, she said." The guard said.
"Did she now?" The Doctor questioned. You thought about your history lessons back at school. You couldn't remember the exact dates of the plague, but you were pretty sure that it wasn't around in 1580. Rory leaned forward and took the wallet off the guard, as The Doctor walked past. You chased after him, leaving Rory and Amy behind. The Doctor eventually stopped at a bridge; you stood beside him, and looked across the river. You heard a hushed whisper of, "It's the Calvierri girls." You watched, as a group of figures dressed in grand white dresses walked through the courtyard. Amy and Rory joined you, as a man ran up to the figures. He shouted loudly, "Where's my Isabella?" He then began pulling the veils back to reveal that the figures were young looking girls. One of the girls approached him, and the man fell to the ground. The girls put their veils back down, and started walking again. The man kept yelling after Isabella, as you felt The Doctor grab your wrist. You glanced up at him, as he pulled you away from Amy and Rory. "Are we going to investigate?" You asked him, once you'd gotten away from the crowds. "Of course we are, Y/N. What do you expect?" he answered.
"Are we looking for that man?" You questioned, and he nodded. "Well, it's better than going to a museum. Let's go!" You exclaimed, and he grinned. "Your enthusiasm is adorable, Y/N. Come on, I think he went this way." The Doctor said, before dragging you off down another alleyway. You could just tell that this was going to be an exciting adventure.
AN: And I'm going to end it there! Thank you for reading; I hope you enjoyed! I'll see you in the next chapter!
