A Walk amongst the dead

Welcome to the apocalypse

I wasn't really ready for this. None of us were, well I guess earl from down the street was, man his house is a fortress. He used to be with the American army.

I remember going to his house once because our mail got mixed up and I could tell he was serious about all this apocalypse stuff.
"gotta be prepared son, people like me are the ones who'll be the survivors ya' hear?", he told me. I never believed him. Not for a second.

Well it started may 17th, a week after my birthday. I was at school in the middle of an exam at the time. "Pass me your eraser", I heard Liu whisper. He's my best friend, we've known each other since forever.
"shut up Liu! Mr. Ieyasu said if he catches us talking again he's suspending us!" I tried to whisper, I swear I did try to whisper. Mr. Ieyasu has a really good sense of hearing...

"What did I tell you boys! GET OUT OF THE CLASS NOW AND MARCH RIGHT TO THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE!" He yelled. Out of all my teachers he has the WORST temper. So we did what we were told, went right to the principals office.

I hate talking to our principal, I swear he has PMS. He'll be giving a boring as lecture or he'll be screaming his head off, you never know which one until you sit down. It seemed like a million years until we got out of there. "Wei, what the hell, we were in there for like an hour!" liu complained, he really does hate our principals lectures. "its all your fault!" he continued
"Shut up Liu I'm not in the mood, we're late for class lets go."
he complained the whole way there.

"Where have you boys been?" mrs. Wong asked
"The principal" Liu answered. I went and sat next to my girlfriend Kate, Liu followed. The day gets better! we walked into another exam, *sigh* I haven't even studied. Apparently neither did Liu. Or Kate.

We were about half way through the exam and my ears were ready to explode. Sirens came wailing from down the road, it sounded like at least 100 police cars. well it wasn't just the police, the military were riding past too. I spotted 5 tanks.

"Wei what's going on?" Kate asked
"I don't know baby, but it doesn't look good"
Suddenly the swarm came to a halt and all that ruckus stopped. so did the exam. but in front of the swarm of peacekeepers I saw another swarm. I pointed it out to Liu and Kate.
"Man those are zombies!" Liu cries out.
The whole room lets out a gasp, continued by screams of terror.
"I've played games like this, everyone ends up dead man, DEAD!"
"Calm down Liu" says Kate "it's probably just a mob"
The large group of bodies has moved closer and the street floods with moans and screams.

Liu, Kate and I ran out to the front of the school.
"That's no mob, it-" Liu mutters.
I cut him off.
"Welcome to the apocalypse"
