Juliana & Valentina: a different story.

Valentina's point of view

Have you ever felt connected to a person as soon as you met her? Like, you felt a bond after talking with her for two minute. This is how I feel about Juliana. I don't know why but I feel like I knew her from a long time. She always acts weird around me and I don't know why, she also seems super sad, but she has the cutest smile I ever seen in a person before. I keep running into her in random places, I'm sure that we will be friends soon.

The second I start my Vespa, Juliana literally cling to me, her hands are on my stomach and I can feel how warm they are.
"Where are we going?" She screams from behind.
"You'll see!" I say without hiding my excitement.
I want to bring her in my favorite place, I'm sure she will love it. Perhaps, If I'll open up more with her, she will do the same with me. She seems so cryptic, I want to know more about her.
We drive throughout the city and we laugh a lot. Los Angeles is beautiful on the night, all the lights, all the people, everything is beautiful.
"So you never have done that before?" I ask Juliana when we stop at the traffic light.
"First time on a Vespa, I'm guilty!" She says with a big smile on her face, I can see her through the Scooter mirror.
"Better this than a stupid party, right?"
"Definitely! I've always had a weakness for scooters."
The traffic light changes from red to green and we go back on the road.
"Our destination is near, but first, hamburgers and french fries!" I stop in the first In n' Out along the road.

Finally we arrive in my favorite place in the world.

"Wow..." Juliana is speechless.
"I know! Come, I'll show you inside!"
We are in a little private cottage located on the Hollywood's mountain, isolated from other houses, it is on the highest point and the view is fucking amazing. My dad rented it for one year.
"This is where I come when I want to stay alone and I want to focus on myself!" I show her the entrance.
"This is...Wow!" She seems like a kid on Christmas's morning.
"There's only this room, and the bathroom over there. The bed is up here..." I indicate a mezzanine in front of us "And of course there's a pool too!" I bring her on the outside where the pool is located.
"It's breathtaking!" Juliana look at the scenario in front of us.
The pool overlooks on L.A. The view is really amazing.
"Let's go on the roof!" I take two blankets and we go on the roof of the cottage.
"Nothing better than eating hamburgers with this view!" She says while she eats a french fries.

"So...How do you feel?" I hope she doesn't snaps on me like the other night.
"Well, it can't go worse than now, so I feel relieved at least...!"
"You can tell me your problems, sometimes talking with a stranger can help!"
"You won't believe me If I tell you the story of my life!" Juliana seems so resigned.
"Try me!" I stare at her.
Around us there's nothing but silence, the only sound is made by the crickets.

The moon and the stars are watching us.

"I don't know, you'll run away from me, I have too many shit going on right now!" She lies down with her arms behind her head.
"Let's do a thing okay? I'll tell you my shit If you tell me yours!" I lie down next to her. Now we're both looking at the sky.
"I like that!" She laughs.
"You'll definitely run away from me!" I chuckle "Well, well, from where I can start?" I literally have so many things to tell, things that I don't say out loud from years.

"Remember that I told you about my dad being super protective?" I ask her.
She nods her head.
"He's like that this since my mom left him."
"Left him? Like, they broke up?" Juliana seems super interested in what I am saying.
"No, before me, my mom and my dad had two other kids, Guillermo, my brother, and Eva my sister, they had them when they were very young, like my mom was twenty when she gave birth to Guille, and Eva was already born from 1 year!"
"So, you are the youngest?" Juliana asks.
"Yes, but, as soon as I was born, my mom decided to leave my father to follow her dreams and her career, so I never met her, I don't know how she looks like, I don't know anything, only what my father told me about her, that is what I just told you!" I sigh. I never talked about this with anyone before, except for Lucho, he's my boyfriend and he noticed that the woman that lives with us, doesn't look like me at all, so I had to tell him.
"What? That's insane!" Juliana turns to me with her eyes wide open.
"I know..."
"You never search for her? Your sister and brother don't remember her?"
"They were too young to remember, also my father basically cancelled her from our life, like, he threw away all the pictures, all the memories, he also very influent in this world so he basically deleted her from everything, internet, newspaper, everything.!" I know how that sounds crazy.
"You don't even know her name?"
"My father says that we don't need to know anything about the woman who left us." It's starting to get cold, I see Juliana shudder so I take the other blanket and I put it over her.
"Thanks..." She smiles at me "Do you hate her?" She asks me after she covers herself with the blanket.
"I can't hate someone that I don't know. Also, that's my father's view, I need to hear her side too, If I want to be fair!" I take the Coke from the envelope bag.
"Well. If you want I can help you finding her...!"
"Thank you, but my father is like Obama, he has so much power and there's no information about her, anywhere!"
"You asked to the F.B.I?" She looks at me like she had the idea of the century.

"The F.B.I?" I chuckle.
"I'm sure your father is very powerful, but come on, the F.B.I is the F.B.I!"
"And what I should do? Go there and say "Hey! I'm Valentina, I want to know who my mom is?"" I raise my eyebrows.

"Lucky for you, I was contacted by them recently!" Juliana smiles and get closer to me.
"What? Are you a criminal?" I joke about it.
"Okay, you told me your shit, it's my turn...I'm not a criminal, but my father maybe is one of the bad guys!"
"Wasn't your father dead?" I'm pretty sure she told me that his father died a long time ago.
"That's what I believed since yesterday...Then a pretty woman approached me in the street and told me to follow her, it turned out she was from the F.B.I!" She talks like she's telling a thriller story to a kid.

"And...?" I'm super curious.
"And she told me that maybe my father faked his death because he was a famous drug dealer back then and my mom knows about it..."
"Wow, you definitely win the contest for the more twisted story!" I raise myself and I sit with my legs crossed.
"And the best part is that my mom kicked me out of our house two years ago, when she found out about me being gay!" She sarcastically laughs about it.
"So, you think that your father is really alive?"
"Maybe, I don't know, and honestly, I'm scared to know the truth!"
"We should investigate together about our parents, don't you think?" I look at her with an excited look "I mean, the world connected us for some reason, right? We should help each other cleaning our family messes!" I'm so excited, I mean, the situation is pretty shitty but the fact that I found Juliana in all of this mess, makes me excited. The idea of us investigating makes me smile. I finally found someone that is like me. I mean, when I told this story to Lucho he just said "Your father is the best, if she left you all, she's a whore!" And then switched the subject to the dinner.

"We can talk with this F.B.I agent and see If she knows something about your mom!"
"And then we should go in some infamous neighborhood to see If someone know your father!" We start laughing, we really sound like kids in this moment. The sound of our laughs together is the only thing that can be heard around here.

We take our thing and we prepare to leave the house.
"Juliana, wait!" I say before she come back downstairs.
"What?" I don't know If it is because I talked with her and it felt so natural or because of the atmosphere that we created staying on the rooftop, but I really want to hug her, so I make a step towards her and I catch her into a hug.
For a second Juliana hesitates, but right after, she hugs me back. She smells so good. I find myself with my heartbeat going faster. I hope she doesn't notice that, she will think I'm crazy.

"I'm sorry that you have to go through this, but I'm sure that together we will figure it out!" I say to her when I interrupts the hug, we're so close. She gives me a big toothless smile and says "Thank you, I'm sure we will end in big troubles, but I'm ready for that!"

We both laugh.

As soon as I leave her home, I already miss her energy, she gives me good vibes and I love that, because recently I'm surrounded by bad energies only.

I can't wait to see her again honestly. I have this weird feeling on my stomach, I don't know what it is...I guess I will find out.
