Chapter 5

"It's no use, those chains were infused with Nen, it's a copy of your chain jail, it forces people into a Zetsu state" Chrollo said as he turned to a small table and poured himself some tea.
He sat down on a chair next to the table and turned to Kurapika.
"Your chains were built to kill, restrain, and capture the Spiders" Chrollo began as he picked his cup up and started to drink his tea.
Kurapika watched Chrollo's throat distractedly as he swallowed the warm tea down, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down.
"There's almost no flaws to it, it was planned out carefully, and carried out painstakingly. But if there was a flaw, I would say you were too arrogant, and quick to sacrifice your life in exchange for power"
Kurapika scowled at Chrollo, his hands were folded neatly on his lap, he had given up on struggling, sensing that Chrollo was divulging important information and was listening intently as a result.
"Your ability could singlehandedly take down any of the spiders with ease, most easily an Enhancer. But only one-on-one combat. If there were even two of us, you would have a hard time escaping alive."
Chrollo continues as he looks down at his teacup, and watching serenely as the tea leaves settled down at the bottom.
"And to top it off, you can't use your chains on anyone who's not a spider, right?" The better the skill the higher the risk.
Kurapika blinked.
How in the world..
"So I'm right huh?" Chrollo smirked.
The only people who should know about that restriction is Leorio, Gon, and Killua. And there's no way they would've gotten anything out of them.
Kurapika's gut told him to break out of those chains and demand to know why he was being kidnapped, why Chrollo brought him here, what he wanted with him, and how he knew what he knew. But his mind begged him to listen to reason.
No, I must not allow myself to be blinded by rage. What I need now is information, revenge has to come later. It probably hasn't even been 30 minutes since I was taken, there's no way he could have removed my Nen yet. The process requires an enormous amount of time even for a skilled Nen exorcist. Which means the chains binding my arms aren't from my Hatsu ability. They're just normal chains infused with an enormous amount of Nen.
Kurapika swallowed his anger and calmly agreed, "Yes you are, and as a result my chains have become strong enough to kill your strongest member." And you're next.
A barely hidden threat.
Bingo. I caught you.
Thought Chrollo as he shrugged his shoulders indifferently.
"I didn't know for sure actually, I just had a hunch that you were the type to do that"
The type to to follow through their conviction and sacrifice everything they had in exchange for the end goal.
And yet you couldn't sacrifice your friends in exchange for the chance to kill me. That was the one thing that held you back. If it weren't for it, you would have become a ruthless avenger of your people.
Chrollo set down his tea cup and leaned over in his chair, putting his fingers together in a meditative pose.
"Since you were kind enough to answer me, it's only natural I should return the favor"
Kurapika raised his eyebrows. He was suddenly aware of how naked he felt, as if he was stripped bare of his skin, an almost unnatural coldness washing over him.
There's always a catch with this man.
"I have a few requirements when it comes to stealing a Nen ability, and one of them is that I must ask the Nen owner a question about his ability, and get an answer from them."
Kurapika immediately realized his mistake.
Chrollo summoned Bandits Secret in his right hand and conjured Kurapika's chains from thin air.
"Although, now that I have your ability, I really don't know what to do with it."

Chrollo's Nen Ability: Bandit's Secret
*In order to steal someone's Nen, Chrollo must first:
#1: See the Nen Ability being used with his own eyes. (Chrollo saw it when Kurapika attacked him in the office)
#2: He has to ask a question about the Victim's ability and have the question answered by them.
(I'm not really sure about this, but I think anything works here as long as it's phrased as a question, like for example instead of: "You can't use your chains against someone who's not a spider." => it can be changed into=> "You can't use your chains on anyone who's not a spider, am I right?")
#3: The Ability User has to place the palm of their hand on the Hand image that's printed on the front of Chrollo's book.
(In this case Chrollo has already done it when Kurapika was still out cold.)
#4: The previous three steps must all be completed within one hour
(It's only been 30-45 minutes since the kidnapping occurred, so they're still in the surrounding area of the Hunter Association HQ)

Chrollo can only hold Bandits Secret in his right hand, and can use two abilities at the same time and/or close the book while using it by using Double Face and bookmarking the page he wants. Bandits Secret is primarily to steal other people's Nen abilities, although Chrollo can also make his own unique Hatsu.
