(This is a story I made two years ago when I was quite a bit inexperienced as I am today, so please bear with the typos and plot holes or inconsistencies that may or may not pop up. Enjoy!)
It was an empty and dark room with only a small bed where I stood next to as I packed my bags with necessities like extra clothes and a toothbrush. A girl with long hair that reaches to her lower back and who looked to be around twelve walked into the room, her black long hair thrashing back and forth in the process. “Hey, what’s going on?” She said. I turned around and saw my sister Joy eyeing my bags. “Nothing much.” “Come on, I know something's going on.” said Joy with confidence. “Fine I’ll tell you. I’m packing up to take an entrance exam for college. If I pass they’ll send me overseas to go to college in France. I just didn’t tell you because there’s a chance I’ll fail.” Joy’s face lit up and she started moving around the room excitedly. “You’re amazing Alex!”
I don’t know if I’ll even pass this. I haven’t even studied. Why did I have to get myself into this predicament. My mom walked in and the shut the door behind her, almost getting her long dark brown hair caught in the door. “Alex, I heard you’re going to take an entrance exam for a college. Once you graduate, you’ll do great things. You have to get in to support us, to support Joy. I know your Dad couldn’t do that. Anyways best of luck to you!” I nodded my head and walked out the door with my packed bags. All this pressure is on my shoulders. I must pass.
The testing center was in Sacramento which wasn’t too far from my house in the outskirts of San Francisco. I just finished high school, I honestly should have sat down and relaxed before going to college and such, but I guess life’s got a hold of me. Life wants me to be an adult alright. But I’m far from an adult. In my point of view an adult is someone who can handle tasks and stuff on their own and handles situations in a calm and mature manner.
I’m the complete opposite. One time my sister, my mom, and I went on a fishing trip because we thought it would be fun which it was, at first. At the beginning it was beautiful, the sea was sparkling like polished jewelry and the sky was as clear as it could be. But as time passed and as more fish blood hit the deck, I grew more and more sick, it’s funny because I didn’t even know I had motion sickness and hemophilia. It got to the point where I could hardly stand, and I spent the whole time crying and puking in the bathroom. So much for an adult.
The instructors of the testing center were nice enough to rent me and the other students a motel room right across the street from the center so that we can study a day or two before the test. I could have taken advantage of that and studied for a couple of days so that I can actually have a chance at passing, but I didn’t. As soon as I got there I drops my bags and took a long snooze on the bed.
Two days have passed and I did absolutely nothing. I’m what you call a procrastinator. Feeling like garbage, I got ready and walked into the testing campus. There was this huge sign that said “Testing Facility of California” in big capital letters. Apparently this place isn’t just for testing, it’s also for students to study a certain subject or major with all the resources they need on hand. As I walked into the classroom for education majoring testing, a guy with long brown hair gave me a dirty look. He thinks he some hotshot who can outperform everyone in this classroom! I’ll show him who’s boss!
“Alright everyone! Testing starts now!” yelled the test instructor. Everyone immediately sat down and glued their eyes to their papers to concentrate. The instructor’s dark brown eyes were so still as if he was looking right through my soul, yet they began to close as he slumped in his chair. My body started to freeze and I was shaking. I looked around my classroom. Everyone had their heads down and were intensely staring at their test as if they were as stumped as I was. My mind was bombarded with possible outcomes. “Will I actually pass this test?” “How good will this school be?” “Will I be alone?” I could tell my face was reddening and my stomach was churning. I still got to take this test.
