If there's darkness, there must also be light. But for how long do you expect it to shine?

The boy, or Nick as that's what the child introduced himself as, had been eating the poorly prepared noodle cup as if it was a gift from the gods. A wide smile spread onto his cheeks and eyes glistering with happiness as if he hadn't eaten for months, which might be a possibility judging from the frail and bony structure the boy had.

Shads had been sitting a few feet away from the child for the past couple of minutes, a hand stroking his black locks in a nervous manner as his eyes twitched back and forth. His thoughts had been a mess of possibilities since he had that name and he was considering what to do with him.
One possibility was to throw him out, another one was to murder him. All of them seemed plain and no fun to him, he wanted to feel excitement and experience something new.

Though his thinking came to a halt as he got pulled back into reality by a soft tugging on his sleeve. Looking for the source of it he found Nick looking at him confused, had he been rambling on for that long?
Shads'expression lightened up in a charming and kind smile as to not worry the boy too much. "Sorry if I scared you, I was just thinking" he chuckled lowly with a metallic tone in his voice that might've send a shiver down a person's spine with ease.

He took a second glance at Nick, now that he was done eating and Shads had sorted all his thoughts out.
Nick was a slender, or rather skinny boy. Blonde and almost bleached out hair, sky blue orbs and soft furry animal ears resting on his head. His clothing were mostly ripped or made from multiple parts of fabric, not well made in the least. He questioned if Nick was either poor or a slave, but judging by his features the first one was more plausible as he spotted no wounds on the boy.

He took a deep breath, words spilling in and out of his mind as he searched for the right ones that wouldn't be too confusing to understand.
"Nick, say. How did you get here?" That was perhaps a good way to start off with, after all his door was quite literally in the middle of nowhere last time he checked.

It took Nick a while to respond, most likely because he was still nervous around Shads, which wasn't the worst thing to be.
"I.. I don't know" he answered in a small high pitch tone that reminded Shads of a mouse talking to a big cat. That thought made him chuckle, indeed a good comparison he thought.
"how can you not know?" Shads inquired, a bit pushy as curiousity gotten the better of him and pushed him towards asking this. Nick just shook his head, eyes focused on the floor as to perhaps avoid Shads'burning gaze.

He decided that he wouldn't get anymore answers and gotten up from where he was sitting, reaching a hand for Nick to get up on. "Come on kiddo, let's get you something to wear" and with that they went into the hallway.

A faint laughter following their steps as something above both watched everything with it's keen and cold eyes. A scary thought but nothing false to think, noone is ever alone. This world is always watched by those above and so it worked with no error and trial just perfection.

Yet, one thing they could not control was this single creature, funny was it not? Indeed comedy for those up watching, and infuriating too. One day, one day they would get their hands on it and then they would never let go and pull their strings on it as well.

-------

Cold, so cold.
Everything hurt, everything was gone. Emotions a mess, desperation growing closer with every step. Hunger, he was hungry. His stomach was screaming for nutrients which hadn't been supplied for days on end.

He had to continue, he couldn't stop now, else he would be surely met with freezing to death. And so he forced himself to continue through the endless white land of snow with no end in sight as tiredness gnawed on his bones.
There, a point of red in his vision which he faintly mistook as his own blood until if grew bigger with every step.. a door?
Hope grew in his chest with hasty and forces quick steps as he got closer and closer. He could make it, he would make it, he was saved!
The next thing he knew, darkness and he feel right into it like a comforting blanket as the red faided into another part of this dream. There was no hope.

------------

Another chapter, another day.
It's cold isn't it?
