Chloe's Pov:

"Chloe?... Chloe, wake up." I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes - Rebel stands beside my bed peering down at me.

"What's up, sweetie? Did you have another bad dream again?" I asked. "You're safe here, you don't have to be scared anymore."

"No, not that. There are strange people outside.." She whispers. "I think they're here for us."

I shoot a look over to the alarm clock on my bedside table - 10 AM. I climb out of bed, Rebel close behind me and shuffle toward the door. I peer outside through the peephole and she was right, a black car was pulled up front and two men in suits stood leaning against it.

"Okay - go upstairs and wake Tori and Liz. Grab your emergency bags and meet me at the back door." I whisper. " And stay as quiet as possible."

I go around grabbing all the little emergency items I hid around the house and stuff them into my emergency bag. It's not the first time we've had to run, wouldn't be the last either. They've been after us since my parents passed away, I had to use alias's when applying for jobs because if they were to find me they'd take us away. They say we're special - that means we're different and they want to get rid of us. I think, or I've just watched too many fictional t.v.

The girls meet me exactly where I told them and I scout out the back yard, we've been here three months which was enough time for me to map out an escape route. I shew the girls out the door and follow closely behind them. We run for about an hour and then we stop, finding a safe place to rest.

"We have to move again?" Liz sighs.

"You know what life is like for us babes, we don't get the privileges that other kids do. Don't worry, I'll take care of you. You know that." I smile half-heartedly.

We start walking again, I find a quaint coffee shop to stop at and let the girls rest up and eat. Even when my parents were around, we were always moving around. We had finally found a home safe enough to grow up in, we lived there for a while but when my parents died seven years ago... let's just say things turned upside down. I took my sisters and found a place to hide but when I was on my way back from looking for food they caught me - I don't know what experiments they did but Rebel was the result, I ended up getting away when they were trying to transport me, I slipped the wrist ties and knocked both the guards out - they've been after me ever since.

"Chloe, can I get some hot chocolate?" Rebel whispers.

She's a quiet kid, I don't know what they were trying to create when they inseminated me but she's the sweetest kid I could've asked for... even being a teenage mom.

"Of course sweetie, go on and order it." I smile.

"Why don't you tell her you're her mom, Chloe?" Tori asks.

"Mind your business Tori, just eat your bagel." I sigh.

At first, I was unsure of pretending she was my sister and not my daughter but I don't want to tell her she's my daughter because I don't need questions about her father and...she's so sweet - it would break her heart if she knew she was just an experiment.

---------------------------

While the girls ate I searched the web for abandoned buildings in the area, this is the area I volunteer in and work so It's safe for us to stay, for a little while at least. I found one that has been abandoned for a few years, they said that the owner died and the next of kin hasn't done anything with it but won't let anyone else buy it or do anything with it either.

"You girls ready to go? I've got an hour until I have to be at work - our new place is right around the corner. Just stay close and keep an eye out for anything suspicious." I explain.

Rebel grabs my hand as we walk and I make sure the coast is clear before turning any corners or going down any streets. We make it to the house, it's bigger in person and doesn't seem too damaged or old.

"Is this it?" Rebel asks.

"Yeah, this is the one. You girls hide here in this bush, I'm gonna go around back and find a way inside. Please do not leave this spot, I mean it!" I explain.

I make sure they're hidden well and then take off, sneaking into the backyard - making sure nobody is around. I go to the back door and it locked, it's not a heavy metal door just a wooden one. I grab the handle and ram all my weight into the door and it swings open. The smell of dust and old age fills my nostrils and I choke, covering my nose with my sleeve.

I do a quick sweep of the house to make sure no one else is squatting here and then go out and grab the girls, the scent takes some getting used to but I'll grab a couple of cans of fabreeze from work. The library always has a bunch in the back room.

I take the girls up to the top floor bedroom, they should be safest here until I get back and then I'll bring them with me to the Kids' nursery/daycare when I go volunteer.

"Okay, Tori is in charge. If someone comes looking for you but you can get out of the house come to my work! If you can't get out of the house there's an attic entrance in that closet, go up there and stay quiet! Understand?" I demand sternly.

They nod their heads and I kiss them all on the cheek before I head out. I only usually work a few hours a night, I explained that I'm taking care of my two sisters and my daughter all on my own so they pay me more than average minimum wage and make sure I'm not getting home too late. They're pretty great.

If I could change things, I totally would. These girls shouldn't be running for their lives all the time - it's not healthy and it's not fair. I wish we just had a normal life sometimes but at the same time - this crazy life gave me Rebel.
