It was a cold August morning, when I woke up. The morning sun beating down on my face through the cracks of my curtains. As I lay in bed I hear my mom yelling "Riley hurry and get ready it's the first day of Junior Lifeguards!!" Ugh I thought to myself I had been dreading this day ever since I signed up my mom thinks it will be good for me to get out of the house and make new friends. As I get ready I put on my bathing suit, it's a red one piece that most girl lifeguards would wear then I put my sunscreen on and this big shirt that says "JG camp" on the back and grab my bag that had my sunscreen and towel, as I head out the door I grab my lunch and a piece of toast and shove it in my mouth as I go out to the car. While my mom was driving I looked out the car window and watched the clouds separate and the sun shine through and the beautiful reflection on the ocean water.

Once my mom dropped me off  I saw a few people walking who were wearing the same shirt as I was so I decided to follow them to the camp but I stayed a bit behind so I wouldn't have to talk to any of them. When we got to the camp I saw two big groups one with younger kids and the other with kids my age. As I was looking at the kids this tall guy who is the leader I'm guessing came over to me with a big smile on his face and said "Welcome to Junior Lifeguards I hope you have an amazing 3 weeks with us I'm Drew and I'm the instructor of the teen group". I just nod and smile in response because I know if I try talking that my voice will get all squeaky and I'll end up stuttering. As Drew shows me where I'm supposed to wait until the session starts I look around to see if there is anyone who is familiar... I see at least two guys I know but I'm not to close to plus one helps out with the younger kids and the other is busy with his friends and so I decide to just sit in the sand and wait for the session to start. After about 23 minutes the instructor, Drew called everybody under a big tent and everyone goes and sits down in the sand. As he is talking I zone him out and start looking at everyone's faces wondering if I will be able to become friends with any of them and all of a sudden I snap back to reality just in time because Drew calls my name and tells me to go sit behind him with I'm guessing all the other people he already called on. As I wait for him to finish taking roll I watch as the ocean waves hit the sand and watch all the surfers and body boarders and think to myself that they must come really early because that's when the waves are best, water is the clearest and when it's not so crowded so it 's very peaceful.

When I started this I thought all we were going to do was go in the water all day and swim. But boy was I wrong, after Drew took roll we put our stuff down, got sunscreen on (of course I put mine on in the morning) and got some water and started off with a run from one beach to another. Then, we did a bunch of push-ups and many other work outs that made my muscle ache in pain. Man was it a lot of work and especially since I have asthma it was pretty difficult for me to keep up at times. When it started to get towards lunch time I noticed a guy I never noticed before when taking roll. I thought he was pretty cute...I mean from a distance ️anyways because we were still running and doing exercises I couldn't see him very well but when I did I don't know what it was but my heart just kinda started beating faster, and not because I have asthma but because I think I was starting to have a crush on him. Oh no, I have been here before and I did not want it to happen again I have had my first real crush in 6th grade up to about the summer of going into 8th (which is right now but I stopped liking him a few weeks ago...at least I hope I have I'm not quite sure yet) I really did like him and it was for no apparent reason I just walked into my english class and bam there he was and all of a sudden I felt my heart racing.( Also I'm already talking to a guy named Ethan who lives all the way in Michigan so I didn't want feelings for someone else). Ever since then I regretted it though because it just caused me pain because I knew he would never like me and maybe that's a reason for me not liking him anymore. But who knows it's in the past now and I plan on keeping it there.

️Anyways back to where I was talking about the guy in my JG camp. Its lunch time now and he is sitting all by himself and so was I, I wanted to go say hi to him, sit with him or something but I was obviously super shy so I didn't. I would quickly glance up at him and see him looking up but I would quickly look away blushing. By the time lunch was over we got free time and during this time everyone went to go either swim, body board or surf but I just stayed up on the shore playing with the sand and occasionally I would see him and watch him body board but look away when I saw him looking towards the shore. After free time we got in this big circle and introduced ourselves and I found out that the guy who I was found of was Named Kieran or ky for short. There was just something about him that caused me to fall for him... was it the way his blue green eyes that sparkled when he laughed or was it because of his cute little freckles... no, I remember now it was because of his little smile so shy yet... so real it was like he was just literally glowing when he smiled. But he just had a specific way he smiled... he would smile a bit more to the right and it was just so adorable it made my heart melt. Anyways back to reality it was time to go home and so we all walked back up the huge hill and of course I walked alone listening to music still fantasizing about him. On the drive home I couldn't stop thinking about him I don't know why but I was just so intrigued and mesmerized by him and all he had to do was smile.
