The front of the school was even more crowded than usual. It's almost like there were 50% more kids than usual. Maybe it's because there was. The new students had arrived and they were all getting nasty looks, some giving them right back. Everything was full of confusion.
The foyer was worse. Kids are used to being crammed together in this spot trying of get to their lockers and classes. This was worse. More kids, more confusion, more yelling, and it was as if nobody was going anywhere.
The werewolf students had to stay in their human forms while on school grounds to make sure no human students found out. Rowdiness had to also be controlled for humans weren't as strong as werewolves. Other than those new rules for werewolf students, they were your typical school rules. No hats on in the building, no tank tops or crop tops, no running in the halls, no fighting, no throwing food in the cafeteria, etc.
"Didn't expect 'em to come so soon," Lila sheepishly said to Stormie. They were standing in front of the school, taking a glance at the new faces.
A group of new girls walked by. They were giggling and happy to see each other. They had obviously planned to transfer to this school together. Lila looked down at her feet in an attempt to not be noticed.
"Talk about short notice," Stormie responded as she rolled her eyes. Lila and Stormie then looked at each other. It was at this moment Stormie was able to detect the fear Lila was trying to hide. Lila wasn't doing a very good job of hiding it anyways.
She turned and continued to stare at her feet, clinging tightly onto her backpack straps. Lila wasn't usually like this. She was often social, talkative, and all around easy to get along with. This was unlike her.
Stormie sighed and tried to lighten the mood by changing the subject. "Where do you think the others are?" She asked looking around. Now she was genuinely curious.
"Probably getting ready for school," Lila answered without looking up. After speaking she began to bite her lip. Lila does terribly under stress, this situation especially.
There was a pause. Lila then let go of one of her backpack straps just so she could get her phone out of a pocket in her jacket.
"Okay, fine!" Stormie said with a hint of sass.✧ "I tried to lighten the mood. I tried to make small talk. But if you ain't gunna talk to me then I'm goin' inside!" Stormie started toward the building.
Lila's eyes widened as she quickly looked up at her friend. "Wait!" She shouted after Stormie. "Don't leave me out here!" She shoved her phone back in her pocket before running back to Stormie's side.

New school, Landon thought as he grabbed his backpack out of his brother's car. New teachers. His brother stepped out of the car and locked it behind him. New opportunities. "Come on! We want get there early before all the good seats in class are taken. We also want to make a good impression on the girls here, right?" Same old idiot brother.
"I couldn't care less about seating charts," Landon said with a hint of annoyance. He looked at Okami High School. He hoped things here would be different and people would understand him more. Plus, he and a few of his close friends had made an agreement to transfer here. Landon didn't know we're going to find each other during lunch, but there was one thing he was itching to know about this school. It's if they had a baseball team. Sure, he'd have to wait until next season to join but it's always good to be prepared. Landon picked up where he'd left off in his conversation with his brother. "Oh, and the girls?" he said. "I think it's best you quit while you're ahead. You obviously don't stand a chance."
"Do you want a ride home?" his brother asked rhetorically while waving the car keys in the air.
Landon sighed and turned towards Okami High. He recognized plenty of kids from his old school and did his best to avoid eye contact as he past them. He did make eye contact with one person. She was a girl he didn't recognize probably a kid who originally went to Okami High. She had light brown hair that was held up in a ponytail. She had a slightly shorter girl standing next to her. That girl had black hair with orange tips that was cut right above the shoulders. The two girls saw Landon. The one with the longer hair grabbed her friends wrist and practically dragged her up to Landon and his brother. "Hi!" she greeted. "I'm Holly and this is my friend Tina. We're just going around talking to the new students, making them feel welcome, y'know!" She smiled. Her friend, Tina, had her arms crossed. She wasn't very fond of the idea of talking to new people. Holly elbowed her to try to get her to be nicer. Tina ignored it.
Landon couldn't stand the awkward situation much longer. Maybe I should introduce myself, he thought. That should make things a bit better. "Um," Landon started but was interrupted by his older brother.
"I don't have time for this," he said and walked away with no respect for the two girls. Landon sighed. He apologized before introducing himself and telling them his brother's name, despite the fact he'd already left.
They chatted a small while before Holly decided they needed to get their books for class and dragged Tina back into the crowd. Landon stood there, alone. Then there was nobody to distract him from the near frigid air. His sweatshirt wasn't thick enough to make him feel any less cold. Why am I still out here? he asked himself. And why are so many people still standing outside like idiots? Landon turned towards the school doors almost unprepared to open them, but he did and understood why some people preferred standing in the cold weather rather than in the school building.

Stormie and Lila squeezed through the crowd long enough to find a clearer area. Both of their lockers were on the second floor so they had made their way up the stairs. Now they saw a few students getting stuff from their lockers and, to no surprise, William beating up a vending machine. Nobody really knows why they still have them, because, if anything, they're more of a safety hazard to have around werewolves. The soda he bought had gotten stuck and he was trying to get it out. All it was doing was getting him a lot of judgemental like stares. "Hey!" Stormie exclaimed at the sight of him. "What did the vending machine do to you?"
William pointed to the machine and replied, "It refused to give me my drink!"
"That doesn't mean you have to repeatedly kick it!"
"It's getting closer to coming out!" That's when Lila walked up to him and bought an energy drink above it. Lila's drink came down and knocked William's down with it. She reached down and grabbed her drink out of the vending machine. She looked up at William. He was shocked while her face showed no expression.
Lila turned to leave and muttered under her breath, "Idiot."
"Hey! I heard that!" William yelled after Lila. She bolted down the hall, giggling. She's always had wild side that could sometimes be considered rude but she didn't care. And her friends liked her that way. She was always there to make silly comments, bad puns, and careless mistakes that brightened everybody's day. And if she wasn't there, Stormie was. Stormie would make people feel better by looking on the bright side of things, giving compliments, being supportive, all that sweet stuff. It's always been way too cheesy for Lila so Stormie learned to act more like a tomboy.
William sighed and said, "Class will start soon."
"Yeah," Stormie replied. "We need to get our books." The bell rung meaning they had a few minutes before class started. "Now!"
