Waking up in her sofa was a custom by now. Jihyo took a seat and blinked before walking lazily to the bathroom to fix the mess she was. She looked herself in the mirror and it seemed that last night party was taking its toll: she looked awful.
Jihyo fixed her hair and tied it up in a ponytail before taking a sip of mouthwash. The mint flavored liquid was invading her senses and waking her up fully while she tried to recall last night events. Of course, she was sure that going out and spending quality time with her longtime friends was worth it, but...
- Are you leaving already?
A voice surprised her and Jihyo spited the liquid in her mouth, face in shock as she didn’t want to run into someone. Tzuyu laughed heartily from the door entrance while Jihyo gave her a glare and hurriedly finished her deeds before leaving the room. Tzuyu followed her closely.
- It wasn't my intention; you know? -said the youngest
- Yeah, whatever. I should go home now, it's noon already.
- Who cares? Come with me and eat something before going out.
- Did you cook it?
- No, I bought it – pointed out the maknae
- No, thanks. I don't want to die poisoned.
- Isn't as bad as your cooking, you know?
Jihyo hit her arm and Tzuyu laughed again before pouting. Jihyo smiled and ruffled her hair before leaving and the younger one growled as she tried to fix her hair.
- See you soon, unnie! – said Tzuyu in the distance.
The situation had been like this for a while: getting wasted and be taken care of by the maknae. Jihyo felt dirty. Every single time she went out the apartment, she felt like that. Jihyo had managed to live like this for months now but was getting tired of running away in circles. It was especially hard because it was related to Tzuyu and Jihyo always had a soft spot for her.All of their friends knew it. Since their school days the other maknaes accepted the fact that their unnie had a favorite among them. So spending time together and acting affectionate with each other was natural for them, until the younger one got a girlfriend.
Jihyo got in her car and put on the radio. Chaeng´s band’s song was playing and Jihyo smiled bitterly as she recalled that it all started in one of Chaeyoung’s presentations.
It was the fifth time her band was invited to perform in the town’s hall. People loved them. Baby beast was being a hit and of course, the girl had to invite her friends. Jihyo had been busy all week and was actually kind of tired but she couldn’t say no to Chaeyoung as she knew how important it was for the younger girl to have her support. Jihyo was late as she got stuck on traffic after her boss actually made her stay some more before ending her turn. It was annoying and she was in bad mood, she would probably have to hear the complains of Nayeon all night. She totally needed a stress reliever as her day was awful. When she finally arrived she saw her friends gathered in the entrance of the hall. While walking towards them she noticed that Tzuyu was already there and just her presence make her feel lighter. As she came closer she observed that the maknae was holding hands with a girl. The rest were chatting lively and Jeongyeon looked like had just made an awful joke that only Chaeyoung would like because the poker face Dahyun gave her made the mysterious girl laugh.
It seemed off. Jihyo knew quite well that Tzuyu was not the kind of person that liked to show affection so openly. Tzuyu didn't even hold hands with Nayeon who she has met for years. Well, Nayeon was not the best example but... She wasn't dumb. She had noticed how the youngest was acting distant with her, making up excuses and cancelling their usual meetings more frequently. It was like she was hiding something from her. And it looked like 'something' was just this girl.
Jihyo was thinking deeply about the situation while walking towards the group. Dahyun noticed her presence and waved at her. Jihyo pretended she didn't know what was going on so she smiled at them brightly while waving back. The rest of the girls looked at her and Tzuyu hid the hand she was holding behind her back. The mysterious girl looked confused and let go of the grip, hanging her hands to the side. Dahyun hugged Jihyo tightly and she couldn't help but hug her back with the same amount of affection.
- Sorry for coming late, I got a last minute call from my boss.
- Don't worry. Tzuyu here got us entertained-said Jeongyeon.
- How so?
- Well, you see...
- Don't be rude unnie. -interrupted Dahyun, hitting the elder’s arm.
Jihyo looked at Tzuyu, who smiled shyly while holding the girl's hand again.
There was a pause before someone said something. Jihyo looked at the girl in front of her as she looked her back just as curious: Brown caramel eyes, a delicate but distinctive nose and a pair of pinky pointy lips. She was a really pretty girl.
- Unnie, I want you to know someone- Tzuyu said.
- I'm Jihyo- said the latter while extending her hand
- My name is Sana. I have heard a lot about you- replied the Japanese while doing the handshake
- Really?
- Yes, Tzuyu always talks about you- smiled Sana fondly as she caressed her girlfriend’s hand
- I would like to say the same but, you see, I only know about you until now- replied Jihyo dryly
- I wonder why...- Sana said while looking at Tzuyu
They went inside the hall and enjoyed the show but Jihyo kept glancing Sana all night. Jihyo's first impression of her was that she was way too pretty. No one could deny that one. The second one was that she was a natural charmer, she played push and pull with Tzuyu all the time. The third one was that she was extremely smart, even if she tried to hide it. Such a terrible combination Jihyo decided: she was totally her type. By the end of the night Jihyo was madly attracted to her and it was unfair. It was unusual for her to fall so easily; after all she barely knew her besides the fact that she was dating her friend. She decided to let it go, after all it was just a crush and this girl probably would not last long as well as the previous ones. Unfortunately for her, this was a huge mistake: as time passed, Sana became Tzuyu’s most solid relationship she had had. They were even planning on living together. Jihyo’s mouth got dry while hearing the news.
Recalling the event made Jihyo’s stomach ache of fury. It was getting on her nerves so Jihyo decided to stop the car and get into a bar. No more driving tonight. Jihyo kept on repeating her memories.
They were in a bar, having drinks and celebrating how Chaeyoung’s band got scouted by a big music records company. Their first single could be heard on radio across the country and they all were happy and proud of their friend. The band even had a mini concert in there and it was totally awesome. Normally, it was Jeongyeon or Jihyo's job to look after the others but that night Jeongyeon wanted to have a rest and Jihyo was way too stressed to do so, her job was killing her. Dahyun decided to give a use to her driving license for once so she offered herself to be the driver that time.
Jihyo had a rough day at her job and now knowing about her crush and her friend were going serious made her felt worse. As if the thought of having a crush on the maknae’s girlfriend was not enough. It wasn’t as she hadn’t tried to let go of those feelings. She knew she was being a bad friend having romantic intentions toward her friend’s girlfriend but for some reason she couldn’t escape from them. The most she knew about Sana the most she fell for her. She was funny, kind, hardworking… Tzuyu was like her sister and being this disloyal to her make Jihyo felt the worst human being ever.Jihyo tried her best to respect the relationship they had but it was bitter seeing the girl she liked with the girl she had told so many years ago she would protect from others. Tzuyu wasn’t a kid anymore but still, Jihyo had tried to fulfill her promise and take care of the young foreigner.
Jihyo drunk a lot and got wasted. All of them knew that she was getting stressed by her work but seeing her so decided to drowning her problems in soju make them realize there was something more going on. Fortunately for her, she had good friends that could take care of her for once. Jihyo couldn't tell Chaeyoung how much she had enjoyed her performance that night as she couldn’t stand by herself. They were going home, Jeongyeon and Tzuyu being the ones helping her to get in the car, while Sana and Dahyun were carrying their belongings. The rest of the girls were going home in Mina’s car.
- She is such a dumb for getting wasted -said Jeongyeon while hitting Jihyo on the forehead- She doesn't even feel this!
- It doesn't mean you should do it, unnie! -replied Dahyun while trying to stop the older one
- Don't worry, it won't leave her any mark-said the short-haired one while teasing Jihyo's forehead again
- Unnie! - Tzuyu yelled -You are so embarrassing, please stop, you will hurt her!
- I wasn't the one that got drunk though - replied Jeongyeon.
They got into Dahyun’s car, having sit Jihyo in the backseat between Jeongyeon and Tzuyu while Sana got in the front seat with Dahyun.
- At least Jihyo-unnie is sleeping peacefully - said Dahyun while looking at the older one through the mirror and adjusting her seatbelt.
- She is like an angel- whispered Tzuyu as she fixed Jihyo’s hair
- You are so cheesy, Tzuyu! - mocked Jeongyeon as she had heard her words- Did you spend time alone with Chaeng in her poetry class?
- She is just being sweet; you know? - said Dahyun while driving- Something you aren't!
- That would be disgusting... –commented the youngest
- Shut up, Tzu!
- You are going to wake her up! -yelled Dahyun - I will leave you in the middle of the road if you keep going.
- That... it happened once, okay? – said Tzuyu blankly as she heard Sana’s giggle filling the car
- And I totally get why- said the latter- Now, calm down or I will call Nayeon-unnie- said the Japanese girl and they all kept quiet the rest of the trip.
Sana was amused. She kept seeing through the mirror how Tzuyu keep on hugging Jihyo close to her. The big eyed girl was resting her head in her girlfriend’s breast and was deeply sleep. Tzuyu smiled at the girl in her arms with the most beautiful smile Sana had seen. It looked like the girl was the most precious one to her.
She had been dating Tzuyu for a while but had never seen her act so overprotective and touchy. Yes, she had a very close group of friends but it looked like there was something more when it came to this certain girl.
Sana wasn’t blind. It totally looked like Jihyo when looking at her.
At first, she thought that maybe Jihyo looked at her that intensely because she disliked her and wanted to protect the youngest but as they spent time together Sana was able to discover the truth about the Korean girl. Jihyo checked her out sometimes and not in a subtle manner. Her gaze was insistent and uncomfortable as the Korean didn’t know how to feign ignorance. The Korean blushed when talking to her and got nervous when Sana used some cheesy lines to made her fluster in purpose.
Dahyun drop them at Tzuyu’s apartment and the pair of girls managed to put Jihyo on the bed to sleep. The Korean rested unaware of the couple that was taking care of her.
- You two seems to be really close. – commented Sana while helping to undress Jihyo- I mean, compared with the rest of your friends.
- Yes, that's because Jihyo-unnie has always been very kind with me since we were young- replied Tzuyu
- Oh, really?
- She treated me like a sister since we met- pointed out Tzuyu smiling fondly of the sleeping girl- and introduced me to her family right away. You know how lonely you got when you are far away from home.
- Yes, I do...
Tzuyu covered Jihyo carefully with the blanket and went outside the room. Sana watched her in silence, not pleased at all in how her girlfriend was acting.
- She make me feel home- Tzuyu said from the living room.
Sana looked once again at the sleeping girl and couldn’t contain her anger. That sleeping idiot was ruining them. Or were they all ruined since the beginning? She sighed before closing the door behind her and asked her girlfriend about what was crossing her mind.
- She still does?
- Yeah…- the younger admitted embarrassed
That was it.
- You know Tzuyu, I don’t think moving together is going to work for us.
- What?
-If you are in love with her, then there is no reason for me to be here.
- I’m sorry.
- Don’t be. This is over.
Sana left the apartment and hit the door. Tzuyu didn’t say a thing. She stayed in the living room not knowing what to do. She kept giving glances to her bedroom and sighed heavily before breaking crying. Jihyo listened Tzuyu´s muffled sounds through the door. It was all meaningless. The only thing she could hear in her mind was: Is Sana free?######### End
