Y/n's perspective

As I read the papers shoved in front of me, my heart pounded in my stomach. When I read the first line of the text, I felt the rush of blood coursing through my body. "Y/n wolf's rights are for sale for $32,000. I agree to sign away their rights and to enroll them in the 'vampire companion' program." I couldn't believe it, my father had sold me. I knew that too many families signed away their kids' rights for honor, money, and fame. Mine did, and mine never recovered.

I felt my mouth run dry as I tried to come up with the words I wanted to say next, but I couldn't, and my words failed me just as they did time and time again. I wanted to beg and plead. Instead, I grabbed my bag and shoved as many clothes as I could, and tightly closed the bag. My father sat in the living room watching me walk to the door. I didn't want to turn and face him after what he did. But when he got up frantically and grabbed my arm, ripping me in his direction to face him, I had no choice. "Y/n say something. Please! He yelled tears streaming down his face as he collapsed to the floor in a heap. "Forgive me y/n! Forgive me!" He yelled, still sobbing violently. While holding back my tears, I kept watching him. The guilt and love I had for my father tugged at me like a wild wolf trying to rip a piece of meat from a fresh kill. My face fell at the sight of him turning around and following the two vampires to the car waiting for me.

Our drive lasted from 20 to 30 minutes before we pulled up in front of a decent-looking house. It was a two-story house with purple trim. Flowers were blooming outside in front of the porch, and a garden to the side of the house. Although I knew it was a beautiful house, I was not inclined to find out whether that person was nice or not. Although I was reluctant to learn, I knew I had a legal obligation to do so, and that frightened me a little. Once we parked and I was escorted to the front door, one of the two random vampires knocked on the door and opened and beautiful tall woman dressed in a lovely suit after we had parked and I was led to the front door, one of the two vampires knocked on the door and opened it to reveal a beautiful tall woman dressed in a suit and tie.  When I saw this random vampire through my window, I was immediately fascinated by it. This random woman said, "Yes?" and I swear an angel was speaking through her.

One of the random vampires asked, "You signed up for a Human companion?".

"Yes, I did. Is this the one?" she asked as she examined me carefully.  They nodded and she walked around me, taking in every inch of me. This was too much. I felt completely naked in front of the stranger, and she was staring at every inch of me. But I wasn't naked. In fact, I had on clothes. Nevertheless, this stranger made me feel vulnerable.  The key to the upstairs room is behind the painting. Let's sign the papers." She smiled sadistically and nodded to the vampire closest to me. I was dragged up the stairs by the vampire after he grabbed hold of my arm and dragged me through the front door. As I walked towards the room she mentioned, I took in every inch of the house, looking for doors and windows and escape routes. Assuming I have a 0.01% chance of even succeeding in the attempt. As I watched the vampire approach the door, he reached behind a painting near it and unlocked the door, opened it, shoved me in, and locked the door behind me.

As I began to pace through this small room, I said under my breath, "Okay, all the horror movies I have ever seen go!" When I looked around, I realized this was the most well-prepared kidnapper room I'd ever seen. The door had no handle on my side; there was no window; the bed was bolted to the floor, and there was no closet. I was screwed. I had no escape exits and I was sure if I tried, I'd fail, so what should I do?

Elaina's P.o.v

My dinner was being prepared as I waited for my human to start screaming and freaking out as my friends described. "Did they escape?" I poured a glass of blood while mulling this thought. "Unlikely, the room is virtually inaccessible." What if though? I couldn't control the mental back-and-forth. I ran to the room, grabbed the key, opened the door, and found my human sitting on the bed looking at the ground. "Y/n?" I call out, causing them to look at me and then snap back. "Human, are you okay?" I refrained from calling them by their names so as not to force them to obey my word.

As they sat still, looking at the floor, they whispered, "I'm fine.", and my guilt flared. I wanted to comfort them, but any comfort coming from me would be harmful to my human.

"Human, knock three times for food. Twice for the restroom." I shout before quickly locking the door again. I sighed and returned downstairs again, wondering 'why the first few days with a human were so difficult. Do all human companions behave this way?' Grabbing my blood-filled wine glass, I called up a few vampire friends and put them in a group call.

I pulled back my phone slightly as Haley shouted, "Wassupppp!".

"My human companion came here and they seemed depressed? I am not sure. They've not yelled or freaked out. They're calm as hell. Has this happened to any of you before?" I ask. I am only concerned for their safety. Why are they so calm? What happened before they arrived here?

"This is strange, Elaina. I've never had a human do that before. I don't think they are depressed either. All the depressed humans I have ever had have attempted suicide when left alone. How long did you leave your human alone after signing the documents?" Kirie asked. I sighed and thought for a moment before responding with a well-thought-out answer.

"At least thirty minutes or so. Do you think that's long enough?" I ask confused. Was that an appropriate enough time for them to try?

"Yeah, more than enough. Something must be defective. Use their name and ask what they are up to." Haley said, smiling, before saying her goodbyes and hanging up. I paced around the living room for a few hours after the call ended before taking my friend's advice and walking to their room. Peering into the darkness, I opened the door as I had before.

My first command to them is, "Y/n, please turn around and face me," as I flip their light switch on. As soon as the light came on, I saw their poor eyes squint up in discomfort, and I noticed they opened one eyelid before sitting up and fully opening their eyes.

"Yes, ma'am," they replied. I didn't remember their manners this well the last time we spoke.

"Y/n what's going on in your mind. Speak now." I command.

Y/n's Point of view

"Y/n what's going on in your mind. Speak now." She commanded me. Without wanting to, I opened my mouth and started speaking.

I stated bluntly, "My father, the person I had grown up with all my life. He sold me. He sold me to someone else and then begged me for forgiveness. He didn't care about me. If he did, he wouldn't have sold me.". Stunned, I bit my lip in an effort to keep my secrets from spilling out. However, her eyes softened. Seeing her body soften, I felt heard. She showed me sympathy, even if she didn't verbally express it.

The one thing your father asked me to do for you to be kept safe. Because he cares. Even if you don't see it. She nodded, flicked the switch, and left the room. I was left in a dark room with only my overbearing thoughts to distract me.
