"LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER LIE"

               A saying for me that I hear all the time is "love at first sight'.  My mom's friend says it and my friends say it.  But for me, I really don't believe in it.  My name is Kayla Parker.  I'm seventeen years old and for me, love is a four letter lie. I've seen people get their hearts broken over guys and then see those same people trying to get them back or something, like it'd be better this time.  I also see guys and girls using each other just to be cool. See, my parents got divorced when I was eleven.  My father cheated on my mother.  But that's not all.  My family isn't the picture perfect one.  See, my brother and my sister are disabled.  They have cerebral palsy.  I'm the only one that came out fine.  My dad got really embarrassed by this but he was also embarrassed because of my mom.  She's paralyzed from the waist down because of getting hit by a car on her way home from work.  The reason that my dad cheated was because he  didn't want to commit to this family.  Since he left, I've had to take care of them myself.  That is until my mom's friend Linda asked to help us.  It's nice to see some kind people left in this dysfunctional world so I said yes. So for a little while after my parents got divorced, I don't believe in love at first sight.  For me, it's like love at first sight then take another look and realize that the person that you love isn't good enough. Yes, I did have crushes in my life time but it just seemed like every time I fell that they didn't catch me.  So I gave up.  And from that point

on, I hated love.
