Ch 9: The Heat

     I began to feel the sides of my neck. I didn't understand. It felt just fine to me. It felt normal.

Israel: "You don't feel that?"

Me: "No, I don't see what you mean. It feels normal to me."

Stephen: "Maybe it's because your whole body's that temperature. I really think you need a hospital..."

Israel: "I second that."

Me: "I just got back from the hospital... How're they even gonna figure out what's up with me when they don't even understand how I survived getting hit by that car?"

Israel: "DUDE, YOU GOT HIT BY A CAR?!"

     Fucking hell... Here we go again...

Me: "Ugh... Yeah... I thought you said you knew."

Israel: "Who said that? I only knew about the heartbeat thing. Wait, so you got hit by a car and now you have no pulse?"

Me: "It sounds crazy, but yes."

Israel: "Did they hit you on purpose?"

Me: "Yeah. They hit me, I blacked out, and apparently, they drove off."

Israel: "Who the fuck??? I'd KILL them..."

Stephen: "How does your body temperature tie into that? And what about your chest?"

Israel: "What about his chest?"

Me: "My heart beats painfully when people touch my chest... I may have some ideas for why my temperature is the way it is..."

Israel: "Like what?"

Me: "I haven't really explained why I was out that night... I ran away because I found out that we're not going back home to get our stuff..."

Israel's face sank as I provided more details. Stephen took every word I said into account to make sure he didn't miss a single detail.

Me: "While I was out, I encountered this guy who attacked me. I didn't see his face and he attacked me so quickly. Before I was hit by the car, he placed his palm on my chest gently. That's when the pulses started happening to me... But that particular pulse paralyzed me. That's why I couldn't get out of the car's way."

Israel: "Tyvan... What the hell?! Why didn't you tell the cops?"

Me: "The nurse at the hospital said they were already searching for him. Even if I did tell the cops, what would they do? I don't know what he looks like and I was knocked unconscious."

Stephen: "He's right. The cops would need more than that to actually find the guy who did it. But hey, at least they know where it happened. Maybe that's his spot. You know... His spot to attack from."

Me: "True... I guess we'll see."

Israel: "So this guy touched your chest, and because of him your body temperature is super hot now?"
