Alex loved getting up and ready for school. She loved it when she woke up a few minutes before her alarm and when she went downstairs with a smile to greet her family. This morning was different though, it was the first day of school for her senior year.
Alex's alarm went off as usual at 6:00 am. She jumped up excited to go back to school for the second to last first day. Her last first day would of course be college. "What another wonderful first day at school! Rise and shine Bree! Mom,Dad, you up?" Bree grunted, wanting nothing more than to sleep in just five more minutes. But Alex was willing to ruin those plans and yank her out of bed. "No let me sleep" "No you have to be ready for school" Alex ran out of her sisters room before she could say anything else. "I'm up I'm up!" Her mom, Cally yelled before Alex began yelling again. "your dad is off on a business trip" she said.
Alex's dad, Blake Brockton, is an actor. He is almost never home. Alex is used to it because he acted a lot when she was little. But Bree hates it because when she was born he couldn't land any roles. so he was always with her.
"Of course he is mom! He has to finish shooting 'Mary's last adventure'" Alex laughed. "Ok, honey. Make sure Bree gets up and ready. Ill go start breakfast while you get ready." Cally said yawning. Alex nodded and ran back to Bree's room to make sure she was awake. She opened the door and Bree was gone but the shower was on in her bathroom.
Alex ran back to her room down the hall, ready to hop in the shower like her sister. She opened her drawer and grabbed some descent looking school appropriate clothes and ran to the bathroom. She grabbed her phone and put on some music. One of the things that Raillery and Alex have in common is they listen to the same music. Which Raillery got Alex into.
She put on a Green Day song called "The Static Age" and started the shower water. "Can you hear the sound of the static noise?" She sang while dancing in the shower. A couple songs later, the water could be hard turning off and she stepped out in a towel.
She put on a thick grey sweater and some black leggings with a pair of white converse. She let her shoulder length thin dark brown hair stay down. She grabbed her backpack and ran downstairs ready for breakfast.
"Hey,mom? Have you seen my new pencils?" Bree asked, looking through her backpack. "No" Cally replied carrying three plates of eggs to the table. She set one in front of Bree and one in front of Alex. "Here,Bree, you can have seven of my pencils" Bree looked at Alex shocked "seven? I only need one" "Fine, but choose wisely. Good pencil means good notes" Calley laughed and continued eating as she watched her daughters fight over how many pencils they need.
"Oh its 7:30, I should go now. Bye mom love you" Calley nodded and watched Alex walk out the door. "What a try hard" Bree said.
Alex had always had to walk to school. It didn't bother her though, she loved it. Hearing the birds chirp, and the trees sway as the leaves began to change colors, and other people taking with their friends. Alex sighed as the school came into view and her friends waved her down.
"Good morning, Cassidy,Elle" Alex greeted them "How are you always so happy all the time?" Elle asked "Maybe it's just a cliche movie plot and she's really dying inside" Cassidy laughed. "Dark humor at its best" Alex started laughing with her. The two were too busy laughing to realize Elle had walked away shaking her head in disappointment.
The bell rang, scaring the friends, making them stop laughing and run into the school. "Oh no, i'm late" Alex ran to her first class. She knew where every classroom was by the room number.
Alex walked into class, her face red as she though her princess reputation was ruined. But to her surprise, everyone was silent. They all were waiting to see what was going to happen. The seating chart was taped onto the board, but was taken off by the teacher before Alex could look at it.
"Ah, Ms. Brockton, you can have a seat right behind Cassidy Shell" Mr. Light said with a smile, marking down on the paper that she was there. Alex walked over to Cassidy and smiled. "Oh no" Cassidy said confusing Alex "What?" she questioned. But before Cassidy could answer, someone walked in. Everyone fell silent.
"Raillery, if you're going to come, at least show up on time" Alex didn't react at first, they have had classes together before. "Your seat is right next to Ms. Brockton" "Alex" Alex corrected. Everyone was waiting to see how Alex would react to Raillery sitting next to her. But Raillery didn't say anything neither did Alex. Neither knew how to react. Does Raillery say some smart ass comment about her or does Alex say seats don't matter? That's how both of them usually reacted to someone sitting next to them.
Raillery silently walked to her seat and sat down. Everyone gasped, expecting her to say something stupid as an attempt to make things right and less awkward. But she didn't. Alex looked away, ashamed to admit she wanted everything to stay like this.
"Its been ten years" Raillery said softly looking over at Alex "Yeah" Alex said "Hi, my names Raillery" "Hi, Raillery, i'm Alex" they shook hands. Everyone began to awe, even the teacher, but they were quickly shushed by Raillery. "There is the Raillery we know" Cassidy said "Shut up, Cassidy" Alex said. And just like that they were the same as they were ten years ago. Best friends.
