A Sonnet

The snow is falling gently from the sky,

White grass beneath its cold white blanket hides.

No sound, dim light: it lies obscenely shy

To live among the world where it resides

A couple, shot by Cupid’s arrows fine

Doth dance upon the silken sheet of ice

Not wanting for transcendence nor divine

Each other’s comp’ny for both doth suffice

Their hearts are pure amidst a world of pain;

The world today is full of woes and strife-

But love is like a sunbeam in the rain

And helps to soothe the laboured stress of life

And whilst the world lives on throughout the light,

The grass doth slumber in eternal night.
