After that one fateful day, the world would never be the same. Nag never believed a human could ruin the dragons' way of life. "Now, Nag, remember to never show yourself to a human," Nag's mother said. "Yes mom," Nag replied, not really understanding. Despite all the warnings, Nag quickly befriended a young human boy named Yvin. Yvin was greatly skilled in magic and the looks he gave the other dragons should have betrayed his motives of being Nag's friend. Despite everything Nag saw Yvin do, he still gave the human his trust, without making Yvin earn it.
Nag felt strange around the boy because Yvin grew more and more crazed over dragons. All Yvin would talk about was how spells could be cast on dragons. Nag told Yvin all he knew about dragons while all the other dragons were out of the forest. Yvin smiled sinisterly as his hands started glowing red in the darkness. The magic shot out in all directions.
Nag watched the magic in both fear and amazement. "What was that?" Nag asked. "It was nothing that concerns you yet," at Yvin's words, Nag could feel a shiver of dread as a strange looking creature coiled around the human. When Nag asked what it was Yvin laughed and said it was a close relative of dragons.
Nag stayed in the dragon den after Yvin left, but after days passed, the other dragons didn't return. After two days Nag went to stay at Yvins cottage near a giant lake in the center of the forest. Nag got a strange sense that Yvin's magic may have had something to do with the disappearance of the other dragons. Despite asking, Yvin never answered. At last, Yvin confessed to turning all the other dragons into a new animal called a snake.
Nag in shock was frozen in place as Yvin cast his magic on him. Yvin, his only friend, now watched as the magic turned Nag into a lesser creature. Nag lost his wings, horns, and his legs leaving him small, long, and scaly. In his new body, Nag slithered off as Yvin released all the transformed dragons as snakes into the forest. Nag slithered on the ground and realized that he shouldn't have given Yvin his trust so soon.
