The sun peeked through the cracked curtains making them look lie blankets of snow.
Feeling bound to something, I opened my eyes, looking down I saw two big arms wrapped around my tiny torso. I knew who that was.
I rolled over in bed, coming face to face with the man I loved. His sandy brown hair was a mess, but it still looked perfect to me.
I slowly moved him onto his back prying his arms from my waist. I kissed his nose earning a small smile from him. And gingerly slipped out of bed.
Although there was no special occasion I felt like making my boys' favorite breakfast; my home made pancakes. I placed all of the ingredients on the counter using a trick my mother taught me to keep the kitchen clean while baking; put away your ingredients as you use them.
I finished leaving the kitchen spotless. Opening the cupboard I pulled out three plates, I sat two on the table and one small plate on Merle's high chair. (Not Daryl's brother)
I returned to the side of my husband who was still deep in sleep. Slowly and gently caressing his cheek.
After doing that for a few moments his blue eyes slowly fluttered open.
"Mornin'," he whispered rubbing his eyes as he spoke.
"Good morning," I smiled. "How'd you sleep?"
Daryl smiled with a nod. He wasn't one to talk much in the morning. "You?"
"Good. Breakfast is ready."
We walked to the bedroom next to ours, arriving at the small bed by the door.
Reaching down I brushed Merle's short blonde locks out of his face. Boy did he look like Daryl when he slept.
"Should we tell 'im yet?" Daryl whispered rubbing my belly as a hint to what he was suggesting.
"Not yet," I placed my hand on top of his. "How 'bout when you get home?"
He hunched over and tapped his temple for a moment, then sat up again. " I knew I was forgot something. I'm workin' late tonight."
I nodded picking up Merle who was now half awake.
"Morning big guy." I smiled giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Good mornin' Momma," He yawned.
After the three of us had finished our breakfast we went to Daryl's truck to say our goodbye's before he left for work.
"Bye-bye Daddy," Merle said giving Daryl a squeeze.
"Bye Buddy," Daryl said. He held him for a moment or so, then handed him back to me stealing a kiss in the process.
"Bye Sweetheart." Daryl said, while he talked I noticed a small dark patch on his skin.
I mentally face palmed myself. "Seriously?" I giggled. "Grr. Every morning you get dirt in the same spot," I paused licking my thumb to wipe up his cheek. "It's like you drool or something, then forget about it." I giggled again giving him one last quick kiss.
"I love you,"
"I love you too,"
