The last summer morning breeze swelled through my window, and the birds chirped loudly as I opened my dark green eyes. I saw my cedar brown curtains waving in the current of the breeze and smiled, knowing today was going to be an adventure. "Today is the last day of summer Thorne, What do you think we should do with my friends today?" I glanced at Throne, my short-haired black cat with shining Emerald eyes. Almost as if he knew what I asked, she jumped on my bed and meowed.

I pet the top of her head and contemplated what to wear. I decided on a school-girl-styled outfit, and a black headband to complete it. I grabbed my sketchbook and my leather Book of Shadows, placed them in my taupe leather bag, and closed it. I slipped the bag over my shoulders as Throne followed me downstairs. I walked into the kitchen to see my mother and smell caramelizing bacon and sausage and fresh-cooked eggs. My mother turned and pleasantly greeted me with "Good morning Darling, how did you sleep?"

I sat down at the redwood table and hummed, "Good, What's for breakfast?" I placed my bag on the floor near my feet carefully. I could already tell it was bacon, sausage, and eggs by the smell, but I wanted to be polite.

She didn't reply but instead, put scrambled eggs, three sausage links, and 5 strips of bacon on my plate as her way of telling me what she made for breakfast. I quickly stood and grabbed my cat's food bowl and gave him his breakfast and some water. I then grabbed an orange juice from the fridge and started to eat breakfast, and my father came downstairs. "Morning Hun, come sit and eat, and don't make me use magic on you." He said with a chuckle in his tone.

I giggled as my dad sat down and looked at me and chuckled, "Morning giggle box, how's breakfast?" and I simply replied with "Amazing, like always dad".

When we finished breakfast, I excused myself and put the plate in the sink. I put my backpack on and called Throne over. I stated, "I'm going to Zara's, Lilly's, and Marget's to hang out in the treehouse, see you later!" I exited the door as they hummed their approval. I walked to the side of the porch and grabbed my steel blue bike and walked back over to the steps. Throne launched herself into the small basket on my bike. My first stop, Zara's house.

I arrived at Zara's house and she was already outside waiting for me. As I stopped, Throne launched herself out of the basket and trotted over to Zara for pets. "Good morning Thorne," Zara laughed, "Good morning Lillith, what are we going to do today?"

"First we need to get Lilly and Margret," I pondered, "Then maybe we can go to the treehouse? We could look for Fae?"

"Good idea," she exclaimed, "let's go!"

She ran to her bike and jumped on, and started speeding off towards Lilly and Margret's. I stopped to call Throne to get back in the basket on my bike. Throne jumped back in and I took off after Zara.

On the way to Lilly's house, I heard a low growl coming from the woods. Throne let out a soft growl in response, verifying that I heard what I did. I tried to see if anyone or anything was there, but saw nothing. I turned back to the street to see Zara far ahead looking to where I was, so I peddled to reach her and continued on. When we arrived, Zara mentioned Margret had stayed over Lily's because her parents were fighting again, and we parked our bikes and walked up to the door. Zara knocked on the door, and moments later Lilly's mom opened the door. She grinned seeing us, and said, "Morning girls, come in I'll go get them." As we walked inside and waited for them to come down, we had to keep Lily's dog, Maxie, from attacking Thorne.

Lily came down with Margret, who looked like she cried all night. Lily's mother yelled towards the dog, "Maxie! Go sit in the kitchen now!" The sternness of her voice even made me jump a little as I watched the dog go into the kitchen.
