I wake up to the sun's rays beating down on my eyelids and I move to cover them instantly. I hear my door creak and I look up to see my father's head pop through the small opening.
"WAKE UP LUNA!!" he shouts, much to my annoyance.
I groan and tell him I am awake and when he leaves, I pad off to the bathroom. When I see my reflection I nearly scream. My hair looks worse than a bird's nest (I think it may have real eggs), my eyes have dark circles under them and I look pale in this lighting. I quickly freshen up and go to pick out what to wear today.
I choose to wear a denim blue high waisted jeans paired with a white lace camisole top and pair of white converse. I choose to put my thin, wavy chestnut hair in a high ponytail and it rests just on my shoulder. I have to make a good first impression, as I was going to a new school.
I was heading to the kitchen when I see my mother along the way. She was staring me down and I just gave her a disgusted look and continue to the kitchen. There are already pancakes rested on the island and from the melting butter I can tell they are fresh and hot. I grab a glass and pour myself some pinapple-orange juice when my dad walks in the kitchen.
I wasn't really hungry so I finish my juice, grab a granola bar, kiss my dad goodbye and left.
I hop into my black Range Rover Evoque, push the start button and drive off. School is only ten minutes away so it didn't take long for me to arrive. I was just starting to attend the Kenwoods High school in Madrid City. As I park I look around and feel my nerves start to eat me alive.
What if it happens again?
What if someone here finds out?
Would I have to leave again?
The negative thoughts from previous start to swarm my head. I quickly step out of my car, take a deep breath and walk inside the institution.
Once I step through the doors I notice something. Everyone around me seems happy, but I think they force themselves to think they're happy to try to get rid of the negativity. I ignore them and try to find my locker before first period. I search for about fifteen minutes and decide to just ask someone. I dont know why they dont have locations for the lockers.
I tap on a boy's shoulder and he turns around, blinding me with his bright smile and friendly eyes.
"Hey," he says.
"Um, hi. Would you mind telling me where locker 75 is?"
He thinks for a moment and then speaks.
"Down the hall, then take two left turns and walk until you see a bunch of lockers," he says sweetly, his smile broadening.
"Thanks," I replied awkwardly, wondering how someone could fake so much happiness.
I mean come on, he smiled like his life depended on it the whole time and the sweetness in his voice sounded so real like he wasn't faking everything. The sound of the bell snaps me back to reality and I quickly store away some books in my locker and head to first period- English, concerned about being late on the first day.
