Officer Deacon Homesley's pov-
"10-56 cover the area. The gang is open firing."
"Deacon, Chris, Max cover the right side. Ace, Gavin, Tess cover the left side" ordered Chief Maxwell.
"Yes, chief. "
We all ran to our positions with our weapons on high alert.
"Hey, Max, why do you think the gang is opening firing? Can it be that they are hiding something?"
"Who knows? But right now we should focus on getting them."
"You're right."
I sighed as Max and Chris got back to their position on full alert.
"10-56, the leader is getting away. Catch him."
Just as the message was given, we saw the gang leader, Ivan headed our way. We came out of our hideout position and pointed our guns towards Ivan.
"Give yourself up Ivan. After all, one or the other way you have to end up in the prison."
"Never"
And with that, the firing started. Ivan started firing along with a few of his guys whom we hadn't noticed. We quickly took shelter as there were more people than we had expected. We were outnumbered. I guess Chris and Max understood that as well as they turned towards me for our next move.
"This is Deacon of 10-56. Ivan and some of his goons are on the right side. We need backup." They are firing here too."
"This is Tess of 10-56. There are some people here on the left too. They are aiming to kill anyone present on the scene. They are firing here too."
Seems like we all were having the wrong impression of people working with Ivan. With having no other choice, Chris, Max and I started to fire back. We only needed Ivan alive at most, yet we were aiming for non-fatal areas as to not seriously injure anyone.
Soon the scene got bloody. "Shit! D, we will soon run out of ammo. We have to start thinking of other ways to fight back." shouted Chris over all the firing noise. Great! One problem is not solved that we get another one!
"Antonio, did you get all the information from the system?"
"No! Wait for some time. It is almost done."
"Chris! Ivan is getting away," screamed Max. Shit, shit, shit, shit! Nothing is going as planned today. I quickly looked towards the direction Ivan was headed off to and saw him running towards the port of New York and New Jersey. Shit! Does he have someone waiting for him there?
"I got it! He is involved in human trafficking and also has made some arrangement with a guy named Elias. The shipment will arrive today at the port of New York and New Jersey."
"OK. Thanks, Antonio."
With this information, I got to know about the gist of the situation from Ivan's point of view and understood why he was so against getting caught today. This shipment must be a big deal for him.
"Chief, Ivan is headed towards the port of New York and New Jersey. He is receiving a shipment today from a person named Elias."
"OK. I will see that he is caught. You lots focus on catching the underlings."
"Yes, Chief."
With the order being given to us, we didn't hesitate to continue pressing the underlings of Ivan. "Arrrrggg," shouted Max. I turned to see that he had just been shot on his shoulder, but as I turned o check on him, I got shot too. I was lucky that it was just my leg. I still could continue on shooting. As Chris was giving Max an emergency first aid, I was covering both of them. It seems that as people were going down, there were more and more people coming to take their place. This would surely take some time.
As Chris had just finished his emergency first aid on Max, gunshots were coming from behind us. In shock, we turned back to see who was there but were soon relieved to see it was Tess's team. Soon all of us were firing together. After getting their assistance, it took about 5 more minutes to get rid of all the guys.
"My God, you people had to deal with so many members. We had roughly about 30 people to get rid off" said Ace.
"Now is not the time to discuss that you idiot." scolded Gavin to which Tess agreed.
"10-56, you are to follow Chief Bernard and his team to capture Ivan. I repeat you are to follow Chief Bernard and his team to capture Ivan."
We got the next order, let's move now. I said. We all started loading ourselves and our weapon in the car as Ace got in the driver seat. Soon we were on our way towards the port. On the way there, I said to them about the information that I received from Antonio. They were upset about the human trafficking part.
As we reached the port, all of us rushed out of the car and headed towards the voice of Chief. When we reached there, we had expected the scene that was in front of us. All of the people that came with Chief were pointing their guns towards Ivan but none of them made any move, Chief himself did not make any move. Tess skillfully made her way towards a nearby member without anyone noticing her and asked him of the situation.
"It seems that Ivan has boom planted here and we cannot afford him to blast this port. Chief is trying to negotiate with him but it isn't working. Also, he isn't the only one who has the remote to activate it. Elias has the remote too." said Tess. This just complicates the situation even more.
"Why don't we search for the Elias guy then? Wouldn't that make it easier to capture Ivan?" suggested Ace. Everyone agrees to Ace's suggestion so we divided ourselves into two groups from earlier and set out to find Elias. Chris, Max and I took northwest and Tess, Ace and Gavin our opposite direction.
After about 10 minutes of search, Tess contacted us.
"We found him. Gavin is fighting him in combat style. We are at the other end of the port. "
"We will be right there."
As soon as we got the message, we started rushing towards Tess's position. When we arrived at the scene, Gavin had managed to knock him out cold. His face looked pretty battered. They must have had a hell of a fight.
"Now that this remote is in our control, let's go," announced Chris.
"Chief, this is 10-56. We have Elias and the remote."
"When did you guys get here? Never mind, you did well. We will handle the rest."
"Okay Chief."
As we got this order, we carried Elias towards our car and tied him up while keeping guard in case he got up and tried to run away. I was pretty exhausted. Mind you, running around or limping around with a bullet in your leg isn't easy. I decided to take rest as Chris worked on my leg. Max too was resting while the other three were on watch. Soon Chief came with Ivan behind him whose hand was bleeding. They had mostly shot him.
"Good work 10-56. Both Elias and Ivan are now captured. The thing remaining is to find the shipment, which will be done by other team seeing as half of you are hurt. You lots can take rest after reporting."
And that is how this case ended, after almost two days work, including all the process of data collection and evidence collection against Elias and Ivan.
