I hope you enjoy this my little ducklings...
Chapter 1: Remember me?
It’s killing me; I’m sitting with Joe watching the children’s channels Tweenies. I have no social life and my friends are all coming back from exotic holidays- so I decided to baby sit for Joe this holiday as a result for cash. I guess with all this money I can buy some really cool designer clothes –at least which makes the embarrassment of not going anywhere bearable. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to being sixteen when I was little but nothing really came out the age- great the Tweenies’ are singing their ‘ I wonna party’ song. (Here comes sing along time) Joe is swinging his arms, and screaming about how he loves toys and partying, hence the song. The front door suddenly swung open and Mrs Bridge rushed through the door, dropping her bags. She looked giddy. “Thank you so much Jay. Infact I’ll pay you double here’s thirty dollars.” She passed the notes and picked up Joe “I hope he hasn’t been too much trouble” I shook my head, eyeing the notes. “Thanks Mrs Bridge.” With that I walked out, smiling at Joe as I passed. It was a fine afternoon with the autumn breeze blowing and Milsbury town filled with orange, yellow and gold blankets of leaves. Starbucks came into view and just as I thought the day was close to perfect until I saw him. Michael sanders, I have nothing to say to the most popular guy at school, my old friend. Best friend. I moved from this town at seven years of age and came back in the summer holidays, a few days ago; no one was here to greet me but that’s because I left them behind. I know Michael won’t recognise me as I am now a natural blonde thanks to baby Jesus sitting on Big G’s right hand. Plus it is glossy, (cuz I took Mom’s really posh Lady Rose conditioner) and I’ve got a figure now. But what can I say I was seven- you don’t expect me to be strutting hips at that age…
… Whoever does that is sad and sad only…
I watched him turn into Starbucks; the cold wind blew across my face it all seemed too cold to bring up memories of our childhood- and I’m certain he wouldn’t recognise me anyway… so as I walked through the doors of Starbucks, I took a quick scan of my favourite shop and carried on walking to the counter. “Hey Billy-boy” I said grinning at him, “The Usual? And I told you not to call me that!” he said pretending to look angry; “Yeah well it’s stuck. So how’s your Mom?” I answered back. “Still having Headaches, you?”
“Still traveling around and leaving her daughter behind.” I looked at him then flickered my eyes to the magazine that my Mom was posing on the front cover. “Missing your Mommy already” he said wiggling his eyebrows “Anyway here’s your food, enjoy.” Smiling at him, I left the counter holding my bag, then sitting down on a lime green table near the window. My favourite spot- when I was little too, I’d always watch people go by then make up their life story. I realised someone was watching me, I looked up to see Michael standing there looking annoyed. “Can I help you.” I said looking up at him and raising my eyebrow. “Yeah, you’re sitting in my seat” he looked even more annoyed as I laughed. “Your seat, I’m sorry but I don’t see your name on it… anyway I used sit here all the time…” I said looking down blushing then picked up my food and got up and walked past him, my stupid heart sank at the thought he couldn’t remember- and I wasn’t up to explaining. I grabbed the door and thrust it open. It seemed outside was colder than before I came in, I walked down the street.
