**Manwe on far right**
Earendil
Manwe nodded deeply. "There is evil afoot. But what I don't understand is why you alone have sought these lands if evil is indeed so great."
"There is barrier," I said. "That greatly discourages my people. As well, they fear the unknown. How then, did we safely find these lands?"
"Everything is illuminated," Elbereth said seriously. "I saw your ship filled with light."
I heard a soft sound beside me. Elwing was crying as only a mother would. "My sons..."
Manwe turned to her. A look in his eyes softened. "He was never yours to begin with, only borrowed." He reached across the table and gently touched Elwing's face. "Dearest, do not cry. I promise you, all shall be made right."
Elwing shook her head. I could imagine her thoughts. What if you had not brought me with you?
Manwe continued.
"I promise you, bravest of the Eldar, that I will avenge your son's death and that of all those wronged by Valthalion. My cousins are strong. They will answer my call."
"Why did you need us to come, Manwe Sulimo?"
He fixed me with a glittering eye. "For the same reason you needed yourself to come."
I nodded, tears forming in my eyes.
"Earendil, I will leave now." Manwe stood and looked towards the sea. "You may stay here, Earendil the Wanderer, until all is set right."
I couldn't help it. I lurched forward and cried.
