*Rainbow POV*

"I'm not short you're just tall!"

"Oh please, in that case everyone is 'just tall' compared to you!"

"Pinkie Pie is smaller than me!"

"Yeah, by like quarter of an inch! You're both small!"

I glare up at my boyfriend as he smirks at me,
"Quibble, for the last time. I'm not short." I firmly state,
"Rainbow, for the last time, you're a dwarf." Quibble replies, a smug grin on his face.

I pout and stick out my bottom lip, my brow furrowed.

I mean, sure, I have to crane my neck a little to look at Quibble's face, but he's just, like, really, really tall....I'm average height for a mare my age, okay!?

Quibble tussles my hair, towering over me,
"You might grow a little one day, shorty~" he grins, brushing past me and trotting into our kitchen. My ears flatten and I growl, then I chase after Quibble,
"Hey giant! You think you can just call me 'shorty' and not get punched?" I question, and Quibble laughs.

He bends down until his muzzle is almost touching mine,
"You're cute when you're mad, you know that, short stacks?" He smiles, amusement dancing in his eyes. I go a little red but I growl,
"I am not 'cute'." I firmly say,
"No you're really cute." Quibble smirks, speaking faster than usual and in a higher pitch.

I punch his arm,
"Aow! C'mon, take a little teasing. You tease me all the time! If you can't take it, don't give it." Quibble groans,
"Oh please, I do not." I reply. Quibble raises an eyebrow, his expression deadpan. I sigh,
"Okay maybe I tease you a little, but not because of your height!" I frown.

Quibble snorts,
"What's there to tease about? 'Ha ha, you're the average height for a stallion your age, maybe even a little taller'?" He smirks. I glare at him,
"Whatever." I state, brushing past Quibble. I trot up the stairs and enter the bedroom. I flop on the bed and sigh. Tank, who was sleeping until I came in, flies over to me and lies on the bed beside me.

I grab my turtle, or tortoise, whatever he is, and hug him.
"I'll show him, Tank. I'm not that short." I mumble. Obviously I don't get a reply, but I furrow by brows in determination.

~Time skip~

"He's always teasing me about not reaching the top shelf without using my wings. Ha! I'll show him who can reach the top without using their things." I murmur as I trot into the kitchen. Quibble is in the bathroom, so I'm planning on attempting to reach the top shelf before showing him if I can actually do it. Cause I do not want to prove him right.

I stare up at the top shelf, containing the sugar, salt and vinegar. I put on my determined face and stand on my hind legs. With one front hoof on the counter, I reach up with my other.

My wings are outstretched from the strain as I push myself to try and reach the self. But I can't.

I reach up with both front hooves, one of my back legs now sticking out, so now I'm balancing on one back hoof alone.

Then, suddenly, I loose my balance. I go face first into the counter with a big bang, and I somehow manage to bring the self I was trying to reach with me once I grab onto it. The salt, sugar and vinegar smash on the floor, and I sit there, rubbing my snout. My nose starts to bleed, along with my mouth, and I'm pretty sure I broke my face.

"Rainbow!? What happened!? Are you okay!?" A voice yells from upstairs, and four hooves frantically bolt down the stairs. Quibble comes running into the kitchen and stops dead in his tracks when he sees me and the broken glass.

I try to keep the tears in my eyes from forming, but I can't. I groan and wince in pain, spitting out blood that leaves a metallic taste in my mouth, and I'm pretty sure I saw a tooth in there somewhere too. Quibble runs to me, avoiding the shards of the broken glass.

"Sweet Celestia Rainbow what happened!? You're bleeding! That looks bad, come on!" Quibble says, helping me up and leading me into the living room. As I lie on the sofa, a groaning mess, while Quibble grabs a towel from the kitchen. He dashes back into me and sits facing me, holding the towel to my bleeding face awkwardly with his hooves.

Quibble sighs,
"You scared the shit out of me, Rainbow." He frowns, his brow furrowed in worry,
"I thought you were getting pony-napped or something!" He adds, concern evident in his voice.

I sit there, guilt churning inside me.
"I just wanted to prove to you that I wasn't that small..." I mumble through the towel,
"Dash you don't have to prove anything to me. Being small isn't a bad thing, it just means you can't reach the top shelf." Quibble says, smiling a little. I scoff playfully and look away from Quibble, a little ashamed,
"Whatever..." I reply.

Once everything stops bleeding, Quibble inspects ny face,
"That's gonna hurt in the morning." He states,
"Like it doesn't hurt now." I scoff. Quibble wipes away some dried blood and sighs,
"Don't do that." He says, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

My head lowers a bit as the guilt inside me grows,
"I'm sorry..." I frown,
"It's alright, just don't do it again, alright?" Quibble asks, and I nod. I go a little red when I lean into him, snuggling into his chest fur. Quibble smiles and wraps a hoof around me. I put my wing around him,
"Also, as if any pony could pony-nap me. I'd kick their asses." I state.

Quibble scoffs,
"It depends on how many of them there are, and also how tall they are." He says teasingly, resting his head on top of mine, making me feel small again. I pout,
"Quibble, I've fought off, like, a hundred giant creatures! And survived- no, scratch that, and won! I think I can fight off a bunch of pony-nappers." I state.

"You had your taller-than-you friends to help you out-"

"Pinkie isn't taller than me just fuck off!!"
