It was first period for Martin. Another Monday. Martin wasn't looking forward to the meeting after last weeks brawl. Martins day consisted of Greta teasing him and being followed by Patrick. Martin looked up from his desk to the door way to see Patrick's tall lanky figure leaning against the lockers diagonal from the door. Martin... felt disgusting when he and Patrick made eye contact.
Soon the teacher walked in with the principal and behind the principal was
"Mike Hanlon?!" Martin said in genuine surprise.
"H-hi." Mike squeaked our.
"Alright class as Mr. Rose just said this boys name is Mike's Hanlon. The nephew of the slaughter house owner so some of Derry's best meat comes from his family. Please treat Mr. Hanlon nicely. This is the 8o's not the 60's." The principal finished.
Mike took his seat next to Martin.
"Alright class today I'm just not feeling it. So this is a free period. Just sit down and shut the fuck up and you'll get an A!" And then the teacher slammed her head on the desk.
"It's been a while Mike... you hardly come around anymore. What made ya start school?" Martin whispered.
"My old tutor moved away. No one else in Derry wanted to teach me because... I'm a negro. So now I'm here. I'm sorry we haven't spoken for the last few months it's just Henry Bowers almost killed me the last time I went into town. I'm not interested in having my skull cracked again." Mike replied.
"Henry bowers got suspended from school for two months for attacking me and my sis. I tried to beat him up but... when you're five foot four and weigh around 119 pounds and the guy your fighting is like six one and well nearing one hundred and fifty pounds it's... a problem." Martin giggled.
"You haven't changed much. You're still pretty." Mike said smiling.
"Thanks but don't let anyone else hear ya say that. They might take it wrong and bully even more then they originally planned." Martin warned.
"Hockstetters been standing in the hall for a while now... he's been looking at you." Mike whispered.
"Yeah from what I've been told I'm his favorite person to bully... I don't know why though" Martin lied.
"How's Lilly pad?" Mike asked with a fond smile.
"She's having her own adventure. Something happened yesterday when she was out. Apparently Bowers apologized to her!" Martin whispered in an urgent tone.
"Impossible. He'd never apologize." Mike replied.
"I'm glad you're here. It's nice to have you back." Martin Laughed.
"What's so funny?" Mike said slightly confused.
"You're a gem mike" Martin said.
"Martin and Lilliana Rose please report to the principals office at once." Came over the intercom.
"See ya later Mike"
"Likewise Flower boy"
Martin laughed at the old nickname then walked out into the hall only to be forcibly slammed into a locker.
"So you're screwing the meat packer boy?" Patrick growled.
"No. Why would you care anyways? I'm done with you." Martin stammered.
"You're not done unless I say you are. Just except the fact that your real. Except the fact that we are gonna be real together." Patrick said in a soft sickening voice l.
"I don't love you. I never did. Every time we're together I have to pretended your someone else! I have to trick myself into thinking that I love you. I really don't love you Patrick and you don't love me. You're a sociopath and the idea of love alludes you. You are just obsessed and it's wrong! Get off of me Hockstetter!" Martin said in a harsher voice.
