Chapter 1: Summer of 1977

Part 1

The school year has finally ended, I let out a small cheer as Lily and I collected my belongings. I tossed numerous articles of clothing into my trunk as Lily sighed and folded them properly behind me.

"Honestly for someone to be this much of a mess." Lily grumbled, I snorted sending her a glare.

"You know if I was anything but a mess you wouldn't want to be around me . You love your pet projects eh' Evans?" I wiggled my eyebrow at her as she tossed my jumper that she was folding at my face. I let out a giggle.

"I know exactly who you're referring to and honestly he is not a project." I groaned tossing the jumper back and placed a hand on my hip.

"Lil' the bloke has pined for you since the day you popped out of your mum not to mention that nasty remark!" She rolled her eyes at me and refolded the jumper into my trunk. "Snivellus-" Lilly cut me off.

"You know his name is Severus how can you be so cruel." I scoffed loudly she was hardly even friends with him anymore after 5th year. He called her that horrible slur, he deserved all the nasty words we couldn't throw at him.

"Potato-tomato" I said with a yawn. Lily rolled her eyes.

"That's not even the expression!" She huffed. She folded the last garment and slammed the top of the trunk roughly making me jump. "There all packed." she sighed placing it by my bed. I patted the now full luggage with a satisfied smirk.

"Thanks mum" after a pause I added "So you think James is finally going to get some before we leave?"

"N-nova!"Lily stuttered her face as red as her hair.

"L-lily!" I mocked. "I'm just saying you haven't shagged someone yet and-" she crossed her arms glaring at me in a very maternal way. She was exactly like Molly sometimes I shuddered at the thought.

"Mouth Nova! Show some class..instead of harassing me about my love life what about yours?"

I shrugged leaning back on my bed my hands behind my head and resting my feet on my trunk. As I did so the thing was so old and rusted it made a very loud creak.

"I am a strong independent woman Lil' I don't need a man that's why I like to live vicariously through you and the love triangle. Besides I'm going to wager that you and James will be together next year. I expect my 10 galleons the moment that idiot seals the deal." Lily groaned sick of arguing with me and pushed my feet off the top of my trunk.

"Alright Cupid let's head out, the train will be leaving soon and I want to say goodbye to Penny and Mari before we head out." she said referring to our bunk mates who like Lily packed the night before. We were officially done with our 6th year. It was odd knowing next year would be our last. I wasn't entirely ready to return home after mum died so soon after dad it began to feel odd just returning to my older sisters and her family. My twin older brothers Fabian and Gideon were too busy being heros, I probably saw them less than I see the bloody Baron. The only bright side to everything was playing with my nephews, Percy was almost a year old and I couldn't wait to see him. We headed down the stairs to meet up with our friends. I glanced at Lily as she walked in front she was a taller than me, she had a thin frame and long red hair reaching her lower back. I was always jealous of it. I on the other hand was shorter with a mess of curls and trying to get my hair that straight was nearly impossible. It was honestly no wonder James was enthralled with her. We approached our friends they were sprawled out on the sofas in the common room the fireplace off as students from all years were gathering around saying their goodbyes for the last day of the year.
