She set out with the intention

Though she knew the way to go

But as she wandered clumsily

The winds of change did blow

They took her like a feather

And she floated on its breeze

Soaring so far above the forest

She could barely see the trees

At first, she was astounded

Just how far she went each day

But eventually, she realized...

Shed completely lost her way.

I sat in the kitchen awaiting a tasty meal; my mind had time to wander as I sat. How did I get to this point in my life? I am tangled up in god knows what with people I barely know. Is this really what my life had in store for me? But I guess the only way to find out is to go with the flow.

"Hey, I'm going to go find Liam. Let me know when dinner is ready." I called out to Jade as she danced around the kitchen, creating her masterpiece.

I walked the halls of the institute searching for Liam; I needed a friend right now. Not only to set my mind straight but to pinch me if I'm dreaming. When I rounded the corner, I thought I cut too quickly and hit the wall. I fell back on the hard concrete floor. My ass now hurt, and I was dazed by what happened. As I look up from the ground where I now sit, I see Nick turning and smiling; that smile then turns into a laugh.

"Well, at least I know I am as sturdy as a statue." He chuckled, reaching a hand out to help.

"Thanks, and yeah, me and my ass know that too," I said, rubbing my poor bum; he chuckles.

"What are you doing out here anyways? Shouldn't you still be resting?" He says in an almost caring voice.

"Oh... Jade was fixing me dinner. But I got anxious and wanted to find Liam. Have you seen him by chance?" I ask, hoping for a quick answer, but his face scrunches into an irritated look.

"Yeah, last time I saw the guy, he was wandering around the library." He said forcefully nice. I'm astonied that he tried so hard.

"What, no sarcasm?" I curiously asked, pushing his button a bit to see his reaction.

"Chalk it up as a nice gesture, but don't get used to it." He said in that snarky tone that I was already so fond of, not.

"Well, I'll be on my way now." I tried casually walking by, but he grabbed my arm and put his lips to my ear, which sent shivers down my spine. He was so close I could smell his ravishing cologne. His soft but rough touch made me weak in my knees.

"Next time you want to talk to me, all you got to do is ask." He lets go of my arm as my body is about to give away, then he releases my arm and strolls away. Knowing that he had some kind of effect on me. I could almost sense his ego growing bigger after my reaction toward him being so damn close. I genuinely find him the most annoying guy ever!

Amid everything, I  forgot to ask Nick where the hell the library was; now I'm just admiring the halls as I try to navigate this maze. As I pass what seems to be an office, I stop as I overhear my name. So naturally, I had to stay and listen.

"Blair has a true gift." A familiar voice rang out.

"Yes, but how powerful is it, and when will it come out again? You know only angels can possess such  power." A woman's voice sounded out; she sounded serious, almost like my abilities, whatever they may be, are not good. I leaned closer to hear better, but my foot slipped, and I hit a flower pot, knocking it over, which made a loud crash.

"What was that?" The man said; I panicked when I heard the footsteps. I ran to the nearest hallway entrance.

"Hmm, this pot has been knocked over?" He looked around momentarily, observing his surroundings, then scowled and walked away.

"Phew, that was close." I let out the breath I had been holding, but what did they mean by only angels possessing this kind of power? I am for sure not an angel. I chuckle to myself.

Finally, I found the library and saw Liam exactly where Nick said he would be.

"Hey Lee, What are you doing?" I asked, curious as to what he had learned.

"Oh hey Blair, I'm just trying to learn some of their cultures. It's pretty interesting.

"Have you read anything about Shadow Slayers having angelic powers?" He pops his head up from the book he has his nose shoved into; he then ponders my question.

"I think so, maybe over her- ah-ha, here it is. Yes, Angelic Like Properties of Pure Blood Shadow Slayers." He says, holding a book with magnificent white angel wings on the front cover.

"Wow, it is beautiful; what does it say?" I ask

"Well, when a child is born a half-blood, from either an angel bloodline, a demon bloodline, or simply being half-human mixed bloodline, they are called Nephilim. The Nephilim are very rare and only come from one of the two purest of bloodlines; they are mysterious beings described as large and strong. Only because they not only harness the Shadow world but the Angel and Human world as well."

"What does it mean by Shadow and Angel world?"

"Well, a normal Shadow Slayer is derived from angels; each Shadow Slayer born has the blood of one of the original angels, Micheal, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel. Legends say that a fifth angel's blood runs through the veins of some Shadow Slayers. But the legends have never been confirmed. Any Shadow Slayer with one of the four angels' blood can wield only a weapon that has been chosen for them. Otherwise, the weapon will not be wielded properly. In contrast, the four angels have their unique abilities. So do the Shadow Slayers; each Shadow Slayer gets one or more of the archangel's gifts of either Micheal's Spirit of war against good and evil, which most Shadow Slayers naturally possess. You have Gabriel, the angel of visions and messages of the gods. Raphael is a healer of mind, body, and spirit, and then you have Uriel, the angel of knowledge."

I became inquisitive. Is this what the mystery woman was talking about? "Liam, I don't know who my parents are. Do you think I could be a Nephilim?" Liam pauses and lowers the book he is studying. His facial expression is almost concerned, and he looks worried. "Liam, what is with the worried look on your face? It's not settling right with me?" He sits there holding the book, pondering my statements and leaving me in the utmost suspenseful situation.
