My legs were frozen, my face was still and my blood ran ice cold. Jai looked around the room startled, I could feel his heart pound a thousand miles an hour almost bursting out side of his chest. I didn’t know what to do, Beau ran straight into the room and was looking around. He called out for Luke and looked out the window. Nothing, he couldn’t see a thing, he could only hear the sound of the wind whistling in the trees. It was an eerie noise, I wasn’t sure if it was my mind trying to scare me even more than I already was or it was someone trying to tell me that this is just the beginning. I didn’t know what to do, I grabbed my phone and called Gina. Her phone rang out and I instantly began to get more worried. I knew I needed to do something I just didn’t know what to do. I started to fiddle with my thumbs and pace back and forth. Beau grabbed his phone and ran outside, he told Jai on his way out to stay put. We needed someone to stay home for when Gina comes home and if, well when Luke comes home.

I finally got my thoughts together and ran after Beau, he couldn’t be out there by himself. We are still not sure what has happened with Luke, we aren’t sure why he has done what he has done. There were to many questions yet there was only one thing I cared about, where was he. I needed to apologize, I needed to just talk to him. I hate knowing that he is out there walking in the cold with yet a cut somewhere leaving him to bleed. Do we call the police or do we just keep looking.

“Luke! Luke!” We kept calling out as we walked down the slowly darkening streets of Glenroy.

There was nothing no sign of anything, there was the odd car that drove past but besides the graffiti that was plastered on the walls we were left with nothing. I tried calling his phone though he didn’t pick up, I called Daniel and James and either of them had had contact with him in the last few hours. Both those boys said they would help us look and we decided to all meet up at the park.

When we reached there, Gina, Jai, Andrew and James parents had decided to pitch in. We all paired up, Me with Beau, Jai with Andrew, Daniel with James and Gina with James Parents. We had looked for a good 2 hours, knocking on doors, looking in shops and continuously trying to call Luke. My feet started to get tired and my head was starting to spin, I didn’t know how I much more I could handle. We needed to find him, we needed to see if he was okay but yet we didn’t know where to look. We didn’t know where we hadn’t looked. Beau suddenly stopped, his legs bent and he fell to the floor. His hands ran through his hair almost as if he was trying to rip it out. I walked up next to him and sat down, I wrapped my arms around him to comfort his and kissed his cheek.

“It will be okay, we will find him. I promise babe, I promise.” I said in a hushed tone.

“But.. But, I just. I am scared.” Tears fell from his eyes and my heart broke. I actually came to the realization that this, this is bad. Yeah this is going to sound stupid but it only just hit me. Luke is gone, he is actually gone.

As I kissed Beau one last time I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out and it read, private number. I hesitated before answering and took a deep breathe.

“He.. hello?” I said trying to stand up.

“Maddie? Maddie are you there?” It took me a second to realize who it was, his voice was muffled and quite but I picked it up nearly straight away.

“LUKE! Luke where are you? Are you okay?!!” As soon as I said his name, Beau jumped up and looked eagerly at my phone.

“Maddie, I can’t talk. I’m okay. I just, I needed to get away. I need some time to think. Don’t worry and please ignore that blood in my room it’s nothing bad okay. Please just tell everyone I’m okay and I will be back in a few days maybe tomorrow, I’m not sure yet. Please I have to go, but I need to tell you something. I, I love..” and the phone cut out. I turned to Beau straight away and repeated everything Luke said. I started to cry as Beau called Gina and he told her what Luke had said. Luke is okay, well he said he is okay, I tried to get my mind around what had just happened. Even though I knew he said he is “okay” my heart was still filled with worry. I needed to see him, I needed to hold him in my arms. He means so much to me, he is my brother and my best friend and now, now I feel as if this was all my fault.

“Maddie, don’t you dare have that look” Beau said placing his fingers on my cheek. “Maddie, it isn’t your fault okay, nothing is your fault. Luke is a big boy and I am sure he is okay. I trust him. He knows what he is doing.”
