Dark Secret

Run

Just a note that Pluchra is Latin for beautiful and Ulf is Russian for wolf.

"Keep running Pluchra!" My wolf screamed in my head. I had to keep going. I will be killed if they catch me. My eyesight got hazy and I became lightheaded. "No, I can't stop now" I kept telling myself. I have to keep going. The forest blurred past me as I ran willing all my limbs to keep moving and not to give up yet. A huge tree started to fall as I approached it. I took a deep breath and pushed myself even harder to make it past before it hit the ground. "Thump" Woah that was close I thought to myself looking back. I returned my focus to what was in front of me. My limbs were now screaming at me begging for me to stop. I must get as far away as I possibly can. Just a little further I thought to myself. "THUMP" "UHF" is all I could manage to get out as my body hit the ground. No, I must get up I thought to myself. The haze started threatening to take over again and no matter how hard I tried this time it took over.

Riyak

"Ahhh!" I woke up in a sweat. I needed to go into the woods. I leaped out of my bed landing right in front of my open window. I placed one hand on the bottom of the window seal and jumped through. I ran as fast as I could to the edge of the woods. Jumping through the brush that separated the back yard from the woods I willed myself to shift. Theirs a girl in trouble. I dreamt she was running through the woods. Running from what, I could not tell. I knew she needed my help. I found an unfamiliar scent. That had to be her. I followed until I saw a figure laying on the ground. Was this her? I shifted back into my human form and called out. "Hello? Are you hurt?" The figure didn't move, didn't even flinch at the sound of my voice. I decided to move closer to see if it was her. Nearing the figure, I could tell it was a woman but there was no movement. I listed close to see if there was a heartbeat and thankfully even though it was faint there was one. She was so still, and her arms covered her face. "Ma'am?" I asked. No response. I gently grabbed her arm and moved it so I could see her face. It's the girl from my dream. Giving a sigh of relief I gently picked her up and started back home in a gentle run.

On the run back she started to whine. I wanted to wake her and see if she was okay but decided against it. I walked up to my front door and linked to my mom telling her to open the door. When she opened it, she was completely shocked to see the girl in my arms. I went up to my room and laid the girl on my bed. She was so beautiful. My wolf growled when I saw the cut going down her arm the bruises on her face. "What was that about Bane?" I asked my wolf. "No response? Bane your startled me. You could at least say something." "Something." Bane growled in response. "Oh, you're such a smart ass. Fine done tell me." "You will understand soon enough Riyak" Bane responded in a softer tone. All I knew is I wanted to protect her. It hurts me seeing her in this shape. "That's odd" I thought to myself. I have never cared before if someone was hurt and now, I care about a stranger.

I went to my closet and grabbed a pillow and a sheet. I didn't need a heavy blanket since I'm always hot. I laid the pillow down on the floor and laid down myself with the sheet over me. I took a deep breath trying to will my brain to hush for the night so I could sleep.

Pluchra

I opened my eyes and looked at the wall in front of me. Everything hit me at once. The fear and need to run. I looked around me and no one was there. I sat up worried that they caught me. I looked around me and on the floor was a guy. I jumped from the bed to the door clearing the man on the floor. As I struggled to open the door the man woke up. I heard him moving towards me and I panicked even more. "Don't touch me!" I screamed and slammed my body into the door breaking it. I stumbled but managed to stay on my feet as I ran down the hallway with the guy on my heals. "HELP ME!" I screamed. I saw stairs approaching fast and decided to jump them. Leaping from the top step I landed at the bottom with a "Snap" in my ankle and searing pain to follow. I let out a yelp but stood back up and attempted to run. The pain in my ankle was too much and I collapsed crying and screaming again "HELP ME PLEASE!" I look behind me and at the bottom of the stairs was the guy. "Please don't hurt me. Just let me go." I begged. I turned back around trying to crawl away only to see another man and a woman standing in front of me. The woman kneeled beside me and in a calming tone asked me to calm down. "You are safe here. Take a deep breath and calm down. Let me look at that ankle hun." She moved down to my ankle taking it gingerly in her hands. "I am willing to bet you broke it. Will you allow me to brace it, so it heals properly?" I nodded. "Yes ma'am." I whispered trying to hide how much it hurt. "I will be right back; Riyak and Ulf please help her to the couch." The man by the steps moved carefully as if he was trying to make sure he didn't scare me. They lifted me up and placed me on the couch with a stool under my calf, so my broken ankle had no weight on it. "Why am I here? Who are you?" I asked the guy from the room. He backed up with a look of awe. That's when I caught his sent. My wolf growled in pleasure of his sent. We knew he was our mate. "My name is Riyak. I am next in line for Alpha of the Midnight Pack."

Riyak

"I found you in the woods and brought you back here. Who are you?" I asked this mysterious girl. "My name is Pluchra. I am a werewolf, but I do not belong to a pack." She said as her tone turned sad and her eyes dropped. "What were you doing in the woods? Running from something?" I asked. Her head shot up and as her eyes met mine, they narrowed in suspicion. "How do you know I was running from something? Are you one of them?" I knew it was going to sound stupid, but I decided to tell her the truth. "I had a dream that a girl was running from something and collapsed. When I woke, I ran into the woods and found you in the same spot." I knew as I finished, she wasn't going to believe me. Whatever it was that she was running from its bad enough that she doesn't trust. "Do you really think I was going to believe that?" She hissed at me. "He left without telling his Father or Mother last night and I only know about it because I was the one to open the door to let you both back in." My mother stated as she walked back in with a brace for Pulchra's ankle. "My son doesn't normally care if someone is hurt so I do believe he is telling the truth especially with how attentive he has been with you. I also brought some stuff to clean up that cut on your arm." My mother stated with a smile.

Pluchra

"Ouch." I hissed wile grinding my teeth from pain. Riyaks mother was cleaning out the cut on my arm. "You said you're a werewolf, right?" I knew what was coming. "Yes ma'am." "Then why isn't this cut healed up already? It must be almost a day old now. Your ankle should be healed in the next hour now that it is set." I sighed. "This cut was done with a tool made from pure silver and dipped in wolfsbane." Everyone grew silent. The older man who I assumed to be Ulf left the room. Riyak followed suit leaving only his mother with me. "Weapons like that were destroyed in the last war along with the wolfsbane" I looked down "No Ma'am. Not all of them." The look of shock and horror on her face made me feel horrible. I know they are tracking me. I must leave when my ankle heals. "Ma'am? What is your name?" I asked. "Talani." She said with a soft smile, but the fear never left her eyes. "Thank you for helping me." I said. Talani smiled and nodded her head.

I heard a howl off in the distance and froze. Riyak came running back into the living room with Ulf on his heals. "Get to the safe room." Ulf said in his alpha tone. Riyak lifted me up and ran to the safe room with Talani in suit. "What is going on?" Talani asked. "Some of our pack members were attacked. I must go help father fight them off. I will be back." Riyak stated. Talani looked at me and all I could do is apologize as tears threatened to fall. "Talani I must leave to protect you all." "Pluchra there is no way we are letting you go back out there by yourself. Especially if you have people after you with those weapons." "Talani please, I can't let them do to your pack what they did to mine. I can't let it happen again" The tears win and fall down my face. Talani catches me off guard and gives me a hug while running her hand through my hair. "Pluchra you're part of my pack. We will not let them hurt you ever again."

Riyak

"Mother she's my mate. Please protect her and make sure she stays here until I return." I linked with my mother. "I thought so. I will protect her Riyak. Hurry back." She responded. I closed the link trying to focus. When I lifted Pluchra up Bone Decided to finally tell me she's my mate and that's why he acted the way he did. "We must protect her." He growled. "We will Bone. Calm Down and focus on what is going on right now." He huffed at me, but I could tell he listened. I could hear yelling growing louder and saw my father change into Fang his wolf form. "Bone it's time." He didn't respond but just took over. Breaking through some brush to my horror ten of my pack members where on the ground torn to shreds. We let out a howl of despair and anger. We will revenge our pack member. "Al-alp-alpha" my head shot over to one whom was fighting to talk. "I must warn you *cough* They have the weapons. *cough* There not all werewolf though. They're something..." He trailed off letting out a wheeze followed with his body going limp. He was gone. My father looked at me. I saw this rage once before and that was during the war. "We need to return home and talk to Pluchra, Riyak. We need to know more about this new enemy." I nodded my head agreeing.

My first writing of My Dark Secret was a bit confusing and all over the place. I have gone through and rewrote the beginning. I am trying to write this with more details along with being more focused. Please stay tuned for more changes. Thank you for your support!
