The Challenge

I slam my hand down on my alarm clock and sit up on my bed.

5:00 am

Why do I always have to wake up so early?

I went into my bathroom and started to brush my teeth.

I wish I had a normal life like other kids in my class. They have something to look forward to. While I just have me and my abusive parents looking up at me from Hell wishing I was there too. At least I have my younger brother. But I don't even know where he is at. He was only 6 when our parents started abusing us and doing drugs. I was 8 and protected him with all my strength.

"WHY YOU LITTLE B$#%&!! GET OUT OF MY WAY!!"

"AHH!!" I screamed as I hit the floor. Mom had been fighting with my brother while I was at school. When I opened the door I saw her hand come up aiming for my brother and I took the shot.

"STOP THIS!!" My brother yelled with tears streaming down his face.

"DON'T YOU YELL AT ME!" mom started to charge at him. Get up. GET UP. I told myself but all I could manage in that time was two words.

"SEN RUN!" I yelled at him. He frezzed for a moment then ran for the door. I remember his last words clearly as he closed the door.

"I love you sis. I promise to come back and find you."

That's all I remember. The next day I woke up in an orphanage.

I'm running late!!

I grabbed my things and hurried my shoes on and ran out the door.

The bus was pulling up as I was catching my breath. Running down stairs and then the sidewalk is breathtaking for sure.

I look up still panting and see the blacked hair guy that lives with Mrs.Annabelle. We both get on the bus.

I'm to tired to walk to the back of the bus so I snatch a seat up front. I feel eyes staring at me so I look to the seat across from me. Its that boy again.

"What's your name." he said

"Sasha. You?"

"Not telling." I gave him a confused look. Then looked away. Shouldn't he know my name? Mrs. Annabelle said it. Oh well..

I took out my phone and started to listen to music. I got lost in my earbuds and started to gaze out the window. It was a beautiful day the air was very relaxing.

Since my power is air most of my senses are more advanced. I can see my enemies through the air and watch there every move, but I have to really focus if their far away. I can smell people's scent from far away. I can hear people through the air. I can't really taste anything.. But I can feel the air and make things out of it.

I was still spaced out when the bus got to school.

"Hey kid! We're here so get off." the driver said

"Right! Sorry.."

I got off the bus and started heading in. I looked at my phone and saw a text from Ryuko. I had got her number yesterday at the Café.

Hey this is Ryuko! Just letting you know that we meet up in me and Naomi's class in the morning! Hope to see you there!

People were still staring at me as I walked into the school. I'm just a regular girl. What's there to look at? I walked down the Sophmore hallway and headed into Naomi and Ryuko's classroom, there classroom is 2-B. I looked around and saw Ryuko and Naomi sitting down in the corner of the classroom at desks and Moriko standing talking to them.

Ryuko noticed me and waved at me to come over.

"Hey guys!" I said sitting my bag down on Naomis desk next to her bag. "Whys the desk moved over?"

"Oh, its just so we can all be near eachother to talk." Naomi said

"Cool." I said

"So Sasha. Tell us a little about yourself." Moriko said with an intrigued look on her face.

"Well, for one thing I live alone." I said looking down.

"Why's that?" Naomi asked

"To put it simply my parents were abusive and I ended up being in an orphanage. Also, being separated from my brother at a young age. I got adopted from two amazing people when I was 8, or so I thought when they sent me away when I turned 15 because they wanted me to live on my own. Turns out they just wanted me for the money they would get from a bet they made." I didn't know when I started to cry but I wiped my tears away and put my hand on the desk.

Moriko hugged me while Naomi and Ryuko grasped my hand to give me comfort.

"Anyways what about you gu-" before I could finish the first bell rang telling us to get to class.

"Well me and Sasha are off guys! See you at lunch!!" Moriko said dragging me out the door with her holding my bag.

"Moriko!" I said accidentally yelling. She dragged me all the way out of the classroom until I shook my hand out of her hand.

"Oh, my bad. I just get excited when there's a new person in the group. I never get any classes with Naomi or Ryuko so I'm happy I have classes with you!" I smiled and we walked to our lockers and put our stuff away.

"How do you like the school so far?" Moriko said making small talk with me.

"Its actually better than I expected. I'm glad I have friends that was the main thing I was worried about."

"Well no need to be afraid! Most of the people here are nice, especially the teachers!" Moriko said turning to me and smiling. We both walked into the class and I saw someone sitting on my desk. It was him. The same boy that lived with Mrs. Annabelle and asked me for my name this morning. Moriko seeing as I looked at him took control of the situation.

"Riku! Get off Classes are going to start!" Moriko said with her nicest smile

"And what if I don't?" he said looking up at her with those blue eyes of his

She crossed her arms. "Then things will have to get a little messy and you wouldn't want to look bad. Now would you?" She made her eyes glow green with her power and still smiled. Riku got off my desk and looked straight at Moriko.

"You know you couldn't win anyways so there isn't really any point in trying." He turned to me "Sasha here probably couldn't even lay a finger on me if she tried."

"I bet I could!" I said

"Fine then. Its a challenge." He said giving me an evil smirk. "We'll do it in Magic Class."

"Fine!"

"Fine." He stormed off and I took my seat.

Class started and Mrs. Fanny started to teach math. Ugh.. I hate math. You would most likely see me in a book than with math problems. Luckliy math ended and we had a little time to chat while Mrs. Fanny and another student in my class went to get books.

"So, what are you going to do against Riku?" Moriko asked as I turned around to face her.

"I have no idea.. I don't even know his powers."

"Well, I can say he isn't easy to beat. But he has SuperSpeed and he has Weapon Summoning."

"So he can trample over me with his speed!" I said a little to loud, others turned to look at me. "Sorry.."

"Basically, yes."

"Oh, well. Doesn't mean I still can't beat him." I said with a smirk on my face. The teacher and my classmate came back and we started reading.

Lessons went on normally and it was finally time for Magic Class.
