Gamethyst (Garnet x Amethyst) One-Shots

Chapter One

Amethyst remembered a time where life was simple, easy, and enjoyable. Back when she spent time with Garnet (whether if it was playing cards, reading magazines, or folding Steven's many shirts, she cherished the time spent,) and Pearl's almost constant bickering. (While that part wasn't so enjoyable, Amethyst knew it couldn't be compared to the troubles that came later on.)

Suddenly it was like their lives were filled with problems that always needed to be solved, going into space, learning new and hurtful things about themselves and gems they thought they knew so well. Rose was never Rose, but Pink Diamond. Pink diamond did many awful things, but also a few good things. Amethyst came out wrong, Pearl belonged to Pink Diamond, many gems were hurt in the process, and the Diamonds weren't as bad as they seemed.

She had to admit, she was happy to have helped the corrupted gems they had been capturing for thousands of years. It had gotten to a point where she had almost lost faith in ever healing them, but she could always count on Steven.... boy has he grown so much..

Since all the new conflict that arose in their lives, Amethyst saw Garnet less... and less... and less. Sure every now and then they'd hang out with Pearl and the others, but it was never the same. Not like how they would be alone. Amethyst remembered when Garnet used to be so stoic, and even so, she always managed to make her smile, even if it was a little bit. She felt so proud to make her smile... almost as if it made a heart race, that is if she had one.

Amethyst never thought too hard on her feelings for Garnet, perhaps she saw it as admiration. She knew she had always wanted to impress her, make her laugh or smile, or just to make her proud. She usually found herself lingering on fond memories of Garnet, such as the time Garnet panicked whenever she cracked her gem, yanking her shirt down to see her own clumsy little mistake. The way she breathed hard like if she was terrified but also frustrated when Rose's fountain wouldn't work. She remembered when Garnet had called her perfect when she had reformed... it flattered her deeply, more than Amethyst wanted to show and so much that she couldn't deal with the emotions.

It was a crazy thought... but perhaps her feelings meant a little more than just admiration, or even adoration. She didn't want to say it was love because what Ruby and Sapphire had was love.. maybe she didn't fully understand what it meant to love someone. But she definitely knew she liked Garnet a lot more than the others, even though she loved them all a considerably large amount.

Amethyst laid on their white couch, staring at the ceiling while her lavender hair swept across their somewhat dirty floor. She thought about how much she missed Garnet since then... it had been three years since they last hung out like that. Two years since they last fused... she still wonders if she trusts her with fusion by now.

Suddenly the sound of the door opening startled Amethyst to sit up, watching the maroon woman walk inside, wiping sweat off her forehead. "Bismuth has great plans for our small homeworld, it's going to be great for all the new comers."

"Haha, yeah, I bet." Amethyst said with a small smile, her usual raspy laugh kicking in gear like it usually did whenever she spoke to Garnet. Why did she always laugh all the time whenever she spoke to her? Is it nervousness?

The tall gem finally walked her way to the couch and plopped down, rubbing her palm against the back of her neck, which seemed sore at the time, rolling her head slowly to one side. Amethyst watched her intently, almost admiring her beauty. She never noticed how beautiful her lips were until that moment... maybe she was thinking too hard.

"So, what have you been up to?" Garnet asked, cutting the silence with a soft smile, her shades glaring the light like it usually did.

"Oh, I'm just laying down.. I really should have been out there to be more helpful to you and Bismuth-"
