It had all started out as a joke really. Peter was the first to start it when he emerged at the Avengers compound bearing a red badge written with yellow words saying 'Tony Stark Defence Squad' alongside his mischievous partner, Harley Keener.

Pepper and Rhodey were the first to notice the spiderling and the other boy with the badge on, thinking it was rather odd for the webhead to wear a badge over his Spider-Man costume. The two boys had placed their badges on the table to continue the video game they had paused earlier on for training, and both Pepper and Rhodey were amused when they read the words on the badge.

The next day during breakfast, Carol couldn't help the snort that escaped herself at seeing Rhodey sporting a big red badge over the left side of his chest, bringing the coffee away from him when she asked where was her's and refused to hand it over until she had one herself.

Pepper had earned an odd look from her colleagues as she pinned the badge over her red blouse and short skirt, looking professional and collected in her outfit despite the badge sticking out with its bold yellow words.

Bruce had it after working with Peter in the lab, chuckling when Peter almost cried when he had almost dropped it and had one pinned to his lab coat after his tutor session with Peter, who had an extra one in his backpack that day.

The Guardians of the Galaxy had stopped by Earth that week, meeting up with the Avengers for some casual bonding time as they were taking a break from saving the galaxy for a while.

Nebula has been the first to have the badge pinned to her vest, the red badge sticking out of her dark colours and the blue alien actually seemed proud to have it, considering the small smile she had after fastening it on herself. Poor Peter almost lost both his hands when he volunteered to help her.

Following her sister, Gamora put it on as well, with Quill wearing the badge on him when he lost a bet to Harley in a game of Mario Kart.

Drax absolutely refused to wear as one: he doesn't wear a shirt, and two: he has sensitive nipples. Peter and Harley choked on their laughter when Quill narrated their story of how they fought Ego few years back, earning a fit from the Destoryer. Wanting to stop Quill from embarrassing him anymore, Drax begrudgingly pinned it to his pants, promising he will keep it safe.

Mantis, bless her pure and innocent soul, was fascinated as Peter pinned the badge on her outfit, and squealed excitedly to be in a squad with the rest of the Avengers with the rest of the Avengers amused at her reaction.

Rocket had two badges pinned on his vest as Groot's badge couldn't be pin to his body due to his thick skin and Rocket didn't mind it, rather fond of the badges that added bright colours to his outfit.

Hope had a smug smile on her lips when she returned to Pym Industries, with the badge proudly pinned to her dress suit and Hank Pym didn't know if he was pissed to see Hope hanging out with a Stark or chuckle to see Hope wearing that badge. Janet however, was a lovely women and specially requested for two more of the badges for her and Hank, much to her husband's dismay.

The sorcerers of Kamar-Taj were the last to receive their badges when Peter came swinging into the New York Sanctum looking for Stephen as he had trouble with his biology homework.

"What's that on your shirt, Pete?" Stephen asked as his tea cup floated beside his face, his eyes trained on the red badge pinned to Peter's sweater and the teenager boy before opening his bag to reveal the many red badges he had.

"Harley and I made this for everyone! Since you're technically an Avenger and also Mr. Stark's boyfriend at this point, you're obligated to wear it." Peter said as he shoved the badge towards Stephen, who took it with his shaky hand and chuckled softly to see the words printed onto it.

" 'Tony Stark Defence Squad'? Should I be jealous that everyone has them except for me?" Stephen said as he held the badge in his hand with a warm smile on his lips. "Thanks, Pete. And have you got a few more? I'm sure the sorcerers in Kamar-Taj would love them."

A laugh broke through Stephen's lips when Peter's pupil widened to big black pools, an excited squeal erupting from his mouth at the thoughts before calling Harley to make more of them.

When Tony returned from his two week trip for the Accords summit in the UK, the genius couldn't ask for anything else at the sight of his team waiting for him like a small welcoming party at the entrance.

"Welcome back, love." Stephen said with a smile as Tony practically stumbled into his hold, the sorcerer chuckling as he hugged the engineer.

"Missed you too, wizard." Tony remarked as he planted a kiss on Stephen's cheek before greeting the rest of the team.

"Welcome back, Mr. Stark! We've missed you!" Peter said as he pounced towards Tony, who almost stumbled if it weren't for Stephen holding him steadily.

"Missed you too, Underoos. And can someone tell me why are all of you sporting those ridiculous looking red badges? It doesn't even fit well with our uniforms." Tony said as he fiddled with the badge pinned to Stephen's sorcery garbs, before gasping softly at the words written on it.

"Who's ridiculous now, Tones?" Rhodey said with a laugh as he lead his brother in all but blood into the compound, where everyone was sporting the red badges with proud smiles on their faces.

"Aww, I feel so loved right now. You guys shouldn't have.." Tony said as he felt sappy at seeing them having those badges, almost bursting into tears at the sight if it weren't for his big ego.

"Its nothing, Tony. Besides, we're family. We love you all the same enough to embarrass ourselves for you." Pepper joked as she sat with the women, a smile on her face as she lifted her Iron Man coffee mug at Tony.

"We've heard about the Rogue's return. So we thought we could cheer you up with this. Although we thought it was a good joke at first." Harley said cheekily as he brought Tony a fresh mug of coffee to Tony, while Stephen chuckled as he pressed a kiss to Tony's temple with a warm smile.

Tony's legs were slightly weak and almost buckled underneath them if it weren't for him holding onto Stephen, a brilliant and wide smile crossed his lips as he called Peter over. The spiderling was practically buzzing with excitement after Tony whispered a few things to his ear.

When Tony came out of his room with a badge stating 'I'm Tony Stark' with a matching shirt that wrote 'And they're my defenders' with arrows sticking in all directions, the other Avengers could only laugh at how ridiculous Tony could be.

Stephen came out with a blue badge of his own saying 'President of the Tony Stark Defence Squad', Pepper and Rhodey shared a fist with the wizard and snickers as together, knowing that this was probably established anyway.

When the Rogue Avengers were due to return in a month's time, they were due in for a surprise indeed.

(This is purely self-indulgent fic I wanted to write for quite some time now. Vote if you liked it~)
