BANG!
Sho jumped out of her skin and grabbed the blanket that had fallen to the floor. She was planning on watching Halloween, not become a victim.
Mimi looked up and raised her brows when she scooted closer. If she was going to die, she would at least have her baby beside her.
Is that traumatic?
Probably.
Would Mimi hate her?
More than usual.
But she didn't care. Dying alone was one of the worst things that could happen to someone.
"Don't give me that look, Mimi Bean," she hissed when she crouched on the floor and covered them with a blanket. "Do you want to die?"
She squeaked when she crawled out from the blanket.
Great.
Now she was really going to die alone.
"Traitor," she whispered, throwing a toy in her direction.
She crawled as fast as could to her. They'd be safe if they could get in her room and lock the door.
BANG!
She stood on her knees with a gulp as she peered toward the front door.
Shit.
It was getting closer.
She really was going to die.
"Did. I lock the door?"
She bit her nail.
"Great. I'm going to become a statistic. Wait. There's not a statistic for Broadway actors dying in their apartment a week before Halloween."
She face palmed and crawled on the couch. All she had to do was jump over the couch and into the kitchen. She'd be able to get a knife and lock the door from then.
The door knob started rattling.
It was a fast rattle, almost like when someone forgot their keys and needed in. The only part was, she lived alone with her dog.
Whoever wanted in was targeting her.
"I'm gonna die alone," she said. A gulp came out of her throat and echoed throughout the apartment. "Fuck it."
She ran into her room and hid under the covers. They wouldn't find her in her. At least she didn't think they'd be able to considering the state her room was in.
"Maybe I should clean up," she said, throwing the covers off her head and getting up. "What the hell am I doing?"
She ran back under the covers and clutched her knees to her chest.
"Go away. Go away. Go away," she repeated in a whisper. "I'm a good person, hasn't done anything to anybody, what the hell could they want with me?"
Her eyes went wide when she heard a yawn. Mimi was still out there, ready to be taken at any moment by a crazed maniac.
"Fuck."
She threw the covers off and crawled into the living room.
"Mimi," she hissed, gesturing her to come. "Do you want mommy to die? Didn't think so. Let's go."
Mimi yawned and turned away from her.
Great.
Now she was going to have to do this the hard way.
She ran as quietly as she could to go pick her up and carry her into her room, and she would have made it had it not been for the door to her apartment opening.
