Today was going to finally be the day she truly became mine. Sure I checked on her several times a month, without her knowing. She's never met me consciously, she was always asleep, but I marked her as mine, the day she was born.
Her mother had given birth to her that day, she was scared that we would forget our bargain and take her child that day, so in fear, she tried to stay awake all night, holding her baby close. But finally she fell asleep, and I climbed in through the window and took the baby from her arms. I held her closely to me and whispered her name that I had chosen for her.
"Isabella"
Her tiny eyes fluttered open and she met my stare. Her eyes where a beautiful brown, the same color of her fine hair. She raised her tiny hand to my face and put it lightly to my lips I kissed her small hand and took her arm into my hand and slowly brought it to my lips. I parted my lips and breathed on her frail skin then slowly pierced her skin with my teeth.
I had done it. I had left my mark. The dark swirl was beginning to fade so I blew on it, the dark swirl coming back to the surface of her skin. I only I would be able to do that, since after all it was my mark. I slowly returned her to her mother's arms wishing so desperately that I could have her now, but I couldn't, and I wouldn't break my word.
Her small brown eyes looked at me longingly, wanting me, but I turned away and left. The next time I saw her she was a month old, still small and frail. Every month I would check on her, until she turned one, then I would check on her two times a month, but only once she was asleep. Since then I have never seen her beautiful brown eyes, and finally today, that was going to change. I walked with the guards to the small car we would be taking to collect her. I was so jittery I didn't hear the servent address me.
"Prince Xavier?" He asked again.
"Yes, sorry"
"What is the young lady's name? Sir"
"Is- I mean Crystalline" I wanted to be the only one who knew what I named her. It just made me feel like she really was mine.
"Very lovely name Sir"
I nod and sit back, wanting for the dreaded car to move faster, of course I could move faster, but I wanted to ease her into the vampire world, and showing up at her house with no car then have to try to explain to those beautiful brown eyes about how being a vampire works just didn't sound like the greatest first meeting.
My mind drifted off and before I knew it, the car was pulling to a stop. I quickly climbed from the car and walked as causally to the porch as I could, all I wanted to see was those beautiful brown eyes, the ones I have not seen since the day she turned one.
Her mother opened the door and lowered her head. I walked into the small dark house and took in the surroundings. There was broken cups on the floor, but the house was silent. I walked down the hall and opened her bedroom door, I didn't know what to expect, but I expected her to be in her room. When the door was opened all the way I walked in, the room smelt so much like her that I couldn't help but breath it in. On her pillow case sat a single rose with a folded note, something that I thought she was only doing to be romantic, but little did I know as I opened the letter, her neat handwriting scralled across the page. The words stung as I read them, and rage began to boil up inside of me, she had ran away. I tore out of her room and found her mother sitting in the same chair that she held her daughter in the day she was born.
"Where is she?" I roar. She looks up at me, panicked.
"In her room, she's been in there the past hour after our argument." I look down on her, trying to decide if she was lying.
"Go check for yourself." I say, then walk out of the house. I stand outside, smelling the air trying to catch her scent. I walk around the house to where I am under her window, then do I smell her sweet scent on the damp grass. I start to jog in the direction her trail is leading, slowly picking up speed when I find that she was following a small trail. The trail starts to get rockier and I start to run even faster, trying to find her. I start to see large boulders in the distance. The rocks where beginning to grow steeper, and the sun was out, creating a glare around the most beautiful person I could ever imagine. My feet stopped and the air in my lungs was forced out. She slowly walked closer to the edge of the cliff, spreading her arms out to keep her balance. I hear a sharp sob escape her as she edges closer to to cliff.
"Isabella!" I yell out. She stops, and slowly turns around. The sun is directly behind her and all I can see is the outline of her beautiful face.
"Who are you?" She calls out. Her voice raspy from crying.
"Prince Xavier" I say, then regret it. I was the reason she was going to jump off the cliff in the first place. I take a step closer to her, and she goes to step backwards, only for her foot to slip off the side of the cliff, and her body start to plummet to the ground fifty feet below.
