Chapter 6: The portkey

I wake up that morning to see the surrounding duvets pushed to the end of the bed and i have no recollection of the previous night. I turn to my right to see professor Snape lying in the bed next to me, fast asleep. He murmurs slightly and raises and eyebrow as if he recognises that i moved the smallest amount. I panic, i can't remember at all what happened last night after i left the living room. Snapes legs stretch and his eyes gently raise to look at my face. Shock ran across his eyes as i could see the regret.

"Sophie you should leave before anyone sees you here." Snape urges me. "It's the first day of school too and you're going to be late. Quick."
I step out of bed and grab my school uniform, walking into the adjoining bathroom to get changed. I take my hair out of a messy bun and see my golden brown waves fall past my shoulders to rest on my chest. My emerald orbs sparkle even with no true light coming from the windows. I throw on my uniform and gaze into the mirror. This is my new life, wizarding school.

I leave the bathroom to see Snape dressed in what he wore yesterday, black shapeless robes. His obsidian coloured eyes stare into mine as he tells me, "don't let Hagrid see you in here."
I nod my head weakly and creep to the door. I open it as a large creaking noise emerges from it, Hagrid stood on the other side. "Sophie, what are yu doin in there?" He asks. "I didn't see yu all night."

I stare at Hagrid for a moment trying to muster up an explanation as snape stood behind me obviously doing the same. Hagrid got there before me though after processing what he's looking at. "Wait a minute i didn't see you last night.... were yu... were yu with Snape." His voice croaks. "Hagrid i'm so sorry there was nowhere for me to sleep in that bedroom."
Hagrid pulls me closer to him ever so slightly, so close that i can smell his fragrant perfume. "Yu don't wanna be messin around with people like him, best you stick with me for the time being." He shoots a disapproving look at Snape who retaliates with an even more disgusted look.

"Anyway." Snape spits out, almost directly at Hagrid, as i still stand between them. "We need to get Sophie down to Kings Cross station before the train leaves."
"yes... where is the port key." Hagrid replies angrily.
"Five minutes away." Snape says coldly.

We leave professor Snapes dull and dark house to reach the port key, whatever that is.
"Now Sophie, you'll grab onto my arm and then touch the portkey. You'll feel a whirling sensation but it'll only last 5 seconds." Snape says to me a lot gentler than when he talked to Hagrid but i can still sense the embarrassment in his throat from this morning. "Er snape i'm sure Sophie is perfectly fine on how to work a portkey." Hagrid says proudly.
"Actually i'm sorry Hagrid i don't actually know how to work a portkey. I squeak. Hagrid flushes red again. "Anyway let's go." Snape interrupts.

I grab onto Snapes arm and out of the corner of my eye i see Hagrid watching Snape jealously. I disregard that and grab the portkey which makes me jolt forward.
