Bonding

My name is Izuku Midoriya.  When I was four years old, I was told that I would never have a quirk.  Quirks are superpowers that fully develop at the age of four or five.  The ability to develop a quirk is directly related to the number of bones in the pinky toe.  My twin sister, Nozomi,  and my best friend, Katsuki Bakugo, both developed powerful quirks.  Nozomi's quirk is called Fire Spirit; this allows her to set all of or just a part of her body on fire(a/n when she sets her whole body on fire, she looks like a female version of the Human Torch).  She can also shoot out fire blasts and fireballs.  Katsuki's quirk is called Explosion; it allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat from his palms and detonate it at will to create explosions.

Let me talk about Katsuki.  He has kind of a split personality, depending on where he is.  If he is in public he acts like a selfish, prideful, and egotistical jerk.  When he is in private, though, he is actually a very nice and upstanding guy.  His true personality is that of an older brother that will do anything to protect his younger siblings.

Nozomi is the best sister in the world.  She is what you would call a tomboy, but don't ever call her that.  She will burn you alive if you do.  We are not identical twins, but she looks like me so much, that you could think that we are.  She is very protective of me, more so than Katsuki.

I recently found out that Nozomi and Katsuki have a secret crush on each other, which brings me to today.

"You like Nozomi, don't you," I said to Katsuki, whom I call Kacchan.

"W-what are you talking about, Deku?" Kacchan asked with a slightly panicked look in his eyes.

I gave him a knowing look and said, "Come on Kacchan, I'm not blind!"

He sighed in defeat, "Alright, yes, I like her.  ...Are you OK with that?"

"You are my best friend and she is my sister. Of course, I'm OK with it." I said with a look that said 'Really?' "Also, she likes you too."

Kacchan stops.  "Wait... REALLY?!" he said with a look of pure joy on his face.

"Nooo, I just said that so I could break my best friend's spirit and become the next Number One Hero," I said, my voice overflowing with sarcasm.

For a brief second, Kacchan gives me a glare that says Your insufferable! before getting a look of worry on his face.  "How should I tell her. What if she decides to play hard-to-get? What if--"

"Whoa whoa, hold on.  First, she isn't going to play hard to get. I overheard Nozomi and my mom have a conversation similar to ours and she said that she was waiting for you to make the first move. Second, think about it, what does she like to do?"

"She...uh...likes to ride on my motorcycle."

"So take her on a ride somewhere and tell her then."

"Ok. We should get to school."

The school day was normal until the end of the day.  The teacher came in with a stack of papers.  "Now, I'm supposed to pass out these career aptitude tests, but why bother," he said while throwing the stack of papers up in the air, "I know you all want to go on the Hero Track!"

"Hey teach, don't lump Nozomi and me in with these extras! We're the real deal!" Kacchan said smugly.

The entire class started shouting at him, but all I could make out was, "You think you're better than us, Katsuki?!"

"Bring it! I'll take you all on!" Kacchan said looking ready for a fight.

"Well, you both have good grades, so you could get into UA," said the teacher.

The entire class started muttering stuff like "UA!" "Doesn't UA have a 1 out of 300 acceptance rate?!"

"Oh, yeah, Izuku, don't you want to go to UA too?" the teacher asked in a monotone voice.

All the students looked at me, then burst out laughing.  Then they all stopped suddenly, feeling the deadly aura coming from the back right corner.  "Stop laughing at my brother," my sister said with barely contained anger in her voice.

"Yes ma'am!" all of the class yelped.  Then the last bell rang and everybody started packing up and leaving as if nothing ever happened.

As we were leaving, Kacchan asked Nozomi if he could talk to her for a bit.  Giving Kacchan a knowing look, I told Nozomi that I would see her at home.  I decided to take a shortcut home, so I went through the woods.  As I was walking on the path I would normally take, a meteor suddenly crashed to the ground three meters away from me, throwing me against a tree and knocking me out.

When I came to, I saw that I was sitting at the edge of the woods.  I looked at my watch and saw that I had only been out for 15 minutes.  I then started walking home.  On the way, I had to pass through a tunnel.  When I was about halfway through, I heard a menacing voice say, "You'll make a nice skin suit."  I turned and saw that a sludge creature was moving to grab me.  When it was half of a meter away, a red and black tentacle came out of my shoulder and cut the villain in half, causing it to pause as it tried to come back together.  Then the tentacle, noticing this, started cutting the villain up into even smaller pieces, spreading them all over the tunnel, effectively, knocking it out.

Then a manhole was thrown up into the air and the Number One Hero All Might jumped out saying, "NEVER FEAR CITIZEN, FOR I AM HERE! OH! I SEE THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF HIM!"

"A-All Might!" I said in excitement, "Could I get your autograph?"

"OF COURSE!" he said as he signed one of my Hero Analysis for the Future notebooks.  Then he put the sludge villain in a couple of empty soda bottles and said, "NOW I NEED TO GET THIS GUY TO THE POLICE STATION!"  Then he jumped, causing a wave of wind pressure so strong that I had to take a step back to keep from falling over.

Once I saw that he was gone, I looked at my shoulder and said, "OK, what are you?"

A red and black mass rose out of my shoulder and grew white eyes.  It looked at me and said, "I am an alien.  My species is called Klintar or, what we are more commonly known as, a symbiote.  I needed to bond with a host to survive.  My name is Toxin."

"So...what do I get out of you bonding with me?"

"You get many powers, including superhuman strength, speed, agility, stamina, durability, endurance and reflexes; organic 'webbing'; regenerative healing factor; ability to cling to most surfaces; limited shape-shifting, including the ability to shape-shift our limbs into weapons, and camouflage. ...I am very glad that I bonded to you, Izuku."

"How do you know my name?!"

"I can see your memories."

"Oh...OK, why are you happy that you bonded to me?"

"Because you are a good person.  One of the downsides of being a symbiote is that I take on some traits from my hosts.  I have been lucky in that all of my hosts so far have been good people.  Because of that, I have been able to resist my instincts, which are to eat and kill humans.  Speaking of eating, another thing that keeps my instincts in check is chocolate.  I can eat this as a substitute for brains because it also has phenethylamine."

"OK, thanks.  For the chocolate thing, do you have to ingest it yourself, or can I eat it?"

"Either one."

"So, I'm planning to tell Kacchan, Nozomi, and my mom the truth, but we need to come up with a cover story for why I now have a quirk for other people.  How about 'You laid dormant in me until the meteor because I always had Kacchan and Nozomi to protect me.'?"

"That sounds good, but what about the chocolate thing?"

"We can either say that you just really like it, or we can just tell the truth: it keeps you sane."

"OK. It's getting late."

"Yeah, we should be getting home."
