With a flick of her tail, Ariel added in the last few substances to the massive cauldron: a few mutilated fish eyes, fins of a puffer fish, and the soft scales of a seahorse. When she had finished brewing, the solution erupted into a loud "poof" before turning a dark, murky purple - Ariel grinned, marvelling her own work.
"Will this really work?" A young Merman said, his voice quaking.
"Of course it will," she snapped back, throwing a cold glare at him. "Do you want this opportunity or not?"
"Yes... yes I do!"
"Very well."
She clucked her tongue thoughtfully as she used a glass vial to scoop up some of the mixture. As soon as she had gotten three, Ariel brought out a contract.
"I'll need you to sign here," she said, handing him the paper and a shiny quill laced in squid ink. "For precautions, of course. You understand, don't you?"
"Yes?" The merman looked nervous as he shakily signed the contract.
"And you also understand that if it goes wrong, your fins are in our possession?"
He gulped. "Um.. yes."
"Great!" Ariel clapped her hands and the contract seemed to disappear into thin little pink wisps. "I will expect a deliverance in two weeks on Tuesday."
Eager to get away, the merman nodded. "I won't fail you."
"Yes because..." Ariel smiled and rubbed his cheek with her thumb, looking at him with absolute malice. "If you do, it's your funeral."

"I'd say you were a little easy on him, my little witch darling," Ursula cackled as the merman scurried away. "I would have given him only one week."
"I suppose,"Ariel replied, organising the ingredients to their proper places. "But his deal seemed to intrigue me, therefore I wanted to give him a good chance."
"What was the deal anyway?" Ursula responded, stroking her eels, Flotsam and Jetsam.
"He wanted some fun with a few mermaids," Ariel said with a bored tone. "I told him that if he could get me the scales of ten mermaids then he would be surrounded by women. If not, I'll take his instead."
"How delightful," Ursula mused. "He did have quite a healthy set of scales on him- why, I would have just pulled them off myself!"
Her hideous laughter echoed, and Ariel couldn't help but smile a little herself, in pride. Ever since she was young, Ariel had wanted to make her mother proud - doing all these deals, it seemed as if that dream had come true.

While working on a brewing recipe, Ariel heard her mother's voice call from the other room;
"Ariel, darling, would you mind going out to fetch some shark's blood for me? I seem to have run dry..."
"Of course, Mother," Ariel quickly replied, grabbing a spear and a brown, patchwork bag. "I'll be back soon, then."
"Hurry - I can't wait forever!"

While hunting for sharks, Ariel spotted a nearby shipwreck and decided to explore. It seemed to have been there for a while, as the bulk of it was enveloped in seaweed, moss and the wood was extremely rotten. Even looking inside, Ariel saw the decaying skeletons with their skulls half torn off - their anatomy seemed to resemble the fascinating humans Ursula had taught Ariel about - extremely intrigued, she decided to dive in the ship to take a closer look.

She placed her fingers and rubbed softly on the bone, before snapping some off and placing it into her bag; it could be used as an ingredient. There were a few other items as well: a broken mirror wrapped in moss, a chipped teacup, and what seemed to be a very pointy, very miniature... hairbrush? Ariel picked it up, curious, poking at the spikes on the end. They seemed to be slightly blunt, but the texture felt nice and cool, similar to what her cauldron was made out of.

Placing The objects in her bag, she suddenly remembered her objective.
"Shoot, I totally forgot," Ariel murmured, swimming out. "Now I have to go looking again.."

However, it wasn't long until she spotted a shark, although it was chasing something; a bright yellow and blue fish that whizzed around, panicking and shouting loud "yelps".

"Help! Help!" It cried, the shark taking every opportunity to catch it in its sharp jaws, barely missing.

Ariel looked on in intrigue, before striking the shark with the spear, puncturing its side. The shark seemed to groan in pain before crashing to the sandy floor.

The little fish seemed to stare at the shark in amazement, before turning it's head to the fascinated red head, who was now swimming towards the body to analyse it.
"Thanks miss!" The fish swam around her and grinned (?). "I thought I was totally fish bones there."
"Fish bones?" Ariel inquired to the weird choice of words.
"Well I don't really know if fish have bones..  well, I think they do! I think.."
The fish seemed to go into a state of confusion, questioning himself - Ariel giggled slightly.
"It would be weird if fish were just pieces of flesh, swimming around," she pondered. "So you must have bones." She paused, realizing she had been stroking the sharks peculiar set of fins.
"How did you even get into this predicament?" Ariel quizzed, reaching for her spear, which was dripping with that glorious blood her mother required.
"I was just trying to scrounge for food," the fish answered, "When this bully came out of nowhere and chased me!"
"How horrible," Ariel replied, amused.  "Oh! Hey, what's your name?" The fish  asked.
"Ariel," she replied bluntly, taking out the spear with quick precision, and putting several vials under the release of blood.
"My name is Flounder!" He (as Ariel realized) returned. Ariel noticed he in fact was not a flounder fish, but said nothing - she simply smiled as the fish "Flounder" tattled on about subjects meaningless to her - but still, she enjoyed the company.
