Never Meant to Be

The Beginning of Surprises

My name is Lilly Reid . I'm the Luna of the Blood Moon pack. We are the highest ranking pack in the state of Colorado. We have the top ranking warrior wolves and the best teachers. My grandfather the previous Alpha was the greatest leader of all. He was kind and gentle but courageous and brave. He never let anyone be less than they we suppose to be. I was glad to be the one to take his place after both my parents and my grandparents were killed in the Great War.

Some days I wish I could have taken their places, but I know they would have wanted me to live. So I live each day in memory of them. Like today is my 18th birthday and today is the day that I find my mate. So I finish getting ready and look in my full body mirror. And I'm happy with my appearance. I was wearing black skinnys with my favorite Sons of Anarchy shirt. To top off my outfit I added my chains, my SOA belt,my SOA beanie, and my dad's black leather jacket. I ran down stairs to meet my two younger sisters and my uncle. They all happily said," Happy Birthday Lilly!"

Happily greeted them with a thank you. I sat in my normal spot at the head of the table, when everyone from my pack walked in with presents and balloons I had an hour before I had to go to school. I opened all my gifts and was happy I got everything I wanted. When I was ready to walk out the door my uncle stopped me and gave me a gift and said," your mother had this made for you don't open it until you get to school."
The entire ride to school I saw wondering what the gift was and slowly started flipping through my memories, but still keeping my eyes on the road so I would wreck my newly refurbished 1968 Chevy Impala Fast back. The drive was kinda long due to the fact that we lived 10 mile from the beginning of the city lines. I watched as the trees slowly started disappearing and turning into homes and businesses. If only humans knew what was really going on around them? Only if they knew the monsters they thought were fake are actually real living in union with the humans unnoticed.

I pulled into the parking lot of the school. Then it hit me today I find my mate I hope it's someone I know. I began to exit my car realizing the gift from my mother. I opened the box to find a locket and a letter from my mother. I opened the letter to read," Hello my beautiful baby girl if ur reading this its your 18th birthday. Know that I love you and this locket is an exact copy of the same locket that your father gave me. If you open the locket one side will have me and ur father and the other is blank so that u can put a photo of you and your mate,  love mom.

I began to cry. I wished she were here to see how much my sister's and I have grown. I was in deep thought when Lira my best friend knock on the window. I rolled the window down and told her to get in the passenger seat. She got in and ask why I was crying. I gave her the letter to read. She looked and me and said" honey I know, but she is watch from agala." Agala is where all of us supernatural go once we die. I dried my eyes fixed my make up. I told Lira that I knew that my mom was watching me, but that I still missed her being here. Lira and I both got out of the car. To be greet by the rest of the pack that was still in highschool.

When all of a sudden I got a whiff of some amazing scent. But I could tell where it was coming from. Lira looked at me and was like " what's wrong". All I could say was mate.
