When I walked into Liam's house I was completely overcome with the sweet smell of fresh chocolate chip pumpkin cookies. It reminded me of fall and brought back memories of when I was a kid and my mom would help Jay and me make them. I haven't had one since Halloween two years ago.

"Hi Mia," Liam's mom, Joyce warmly smiled as she let me in. "Thanks for helping Liam with his homework! I would have if Chemistry actually made some sense."

I laughed, "It's fine!"

"Hey Mia," Liam said, walking out of the kitchen. "Let's go into my room."

Liam's room is an average size, his walls are painted a creamish color and his bed is a queen size with a plain red bedspread. He had football posters all over his wall and a desk over in the corner. His room looked like an average teenage guys room minus the playboys. It was almost clean, but it looks like he shoved everything under his bed or in his closet.

"Fine but you can't shut the door," Joyce warned, yelling from the kitchen.

"I know mom," Liam answered with annoyance in his voice. I gave him a confused look. "She doesn't trust me with the door closed when a girl is in here." He kind of just laughed about it, my cheeks were suddenly burning red.

"Do you have lots of girls in here?" I asked teasingly, but I was sort of curious. What if he cheated on Emma while they were dating. Or already had a few girls come over even though they only broke up three days ago.

"Just Emma," he shrugged. I felt relief wash over me as I nodded. "Since we are asking personal questions do you mind if I ask you one?" He looked down at his hands seeming a little embarrassed.

My heart started to pound and my hands suddenly shaking. What does he want to know about me? "Sure" I spluttered out. I hate personal questions.

"What happened..." He started, but suddenly Clara and Jonah ran screaming into his room.

"Mia! Your here!" Clara exclaimed, still not able to pronounce her "r"s correctly. Clara is Liam's little four year old sister.

"Hey guys!" I laughed as Clara almost strangled me with hugs.

"Hi Mia," Jonah said shyly. Jonah and Clara are twins. They were kind of a mistake I think because there is such a big gap between Liam's and their ages.

They both have they same dirty blonde hair that Liam has, but Clara's is curly and is bounces when she moves. Jonah is very dark and tanned like Liam and I bet that if I saw a baby picture of Liam they would look almost identical.

"Hey Jonah," I smiled, " you are so grown up now! You're starting to look like a man." I laughed as he stood up straighter and got a proud look on his face.

"That's because I am a man," Jonah stated.

"What about me Mia? Do I look like a man?" Clara asked pulling my arm.

"Nope," I laughed when her her face started to pout, "you look like a princess."

She gasped and smiled looking very pleased. "A princess," she said in amazement.

"Okay you guys need to go now so we can do our homework." Liam pointed his finger at the door, "Now."

"Why? I wanna be with Mia," Clara whined.

Liam got down on his knees and growled, "You better leave now before I get you." Both the kids jumped, screamed and ran out of his room laughing. "I don't know if that will hold them off for long, but we have some time before they come back."

I laughed, "Then we better get started on this homework."

"Before we do that, can I please still ask you the question?" He finally was looking me in the eyes.

"I guess," I was really hoping he would have forgotten this.

"What happened to," He paused looking down at his hands again. "What happened to your dad?"

My jaw dropped and I started to feel like I might start crying. Why was he asking me this? I didn't think he was that insensitive.

"I dunno," I told him looking down, trying to bite back my tears.

"Oh," he sat down on his bed and said, "well lets get started." I think he could tell that I didn't want to tell him anything so he was going to change the subject. That is my favorite thing about Liam, he doesn't pry.

After his homework was done I looked at the clock, suddenly remembering that I told Jay to be home at six and I still had food cooking. It was five thirty right now so I had a few minutes to spare.

"Thanks for helping me," Liam said as we got up. We walked into the kitchen and found Clara and Jonah covered in cookies.

"You better save some for us," Liam warned and the kids giggled.

"And me," a voice behind us said, just walking into the kitchen. I turned around and found Zoe looking at me with a startled expression.

"Hi Mia," she said still looking confused. Zoe is a year younger than Liam, so she is my age. We are both Juniors and have known each other since forever. We haven't really ever been friends but we haven't ever hated each other. I don't think she likes it when me or Emma are here. And I don't blame her considering that we only come here to see her older brother.

"Hey Zoe," I smiled at her suddenly feeling kind of awkward.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, making me blush.

"She came here to help me with my chemistry homework. Now I know it if you need some help." He seemed pleased with himself. Liam has to take chemistry this year because he didn't have enough room on his schedule last year.

"Oh," was all she said. She grabbed a cookie and walked off to her room.

"Well on that note," I laughed, "I better get going."

"Okay, but you can't leave without taking some cookies." He grabbed a plastic plate that already had about ten cookies on it and handed it to me. "My mom made this one for you and Jay."

I grinned starting to feel excited, "Thank you!"

"Of course!" He laughed. "See you tomorrow.

"See ya," I waved and then walked out the door.
