Forgiveness of a Friend [One Shot]

WITHOUT knowing, her tears started to fall from her eyes. When she saw her best friend lying inside the coffin, memories came flashing back...

'I LOVE YOU BEST' were the words that usually Carla and Lizeth say to each other.

They were best friends ever since they were young. They share each other's possessions, secrets and in terms of misunderstanding, one of them would just approach the other. One will just say 'I'm sorry' and their anger towards each other would vanish.

One time, Lizeth felt embarrassed when one of their instructors shouted at her in front of their classmates. Lizeth confided it to Carla. Carla, her best friend, shared an inspirational message which made her to jump on her kness and smile again.

Weeks passed and the school's hearttrob took notice of Carla and started to court her.

"Hi Carla, hi Lizeth!" Harry shouted one day when he saw the two girls walking along the pathway. The two stopped and smiled.

"Hi!" said Carla.

"Are the flowers for me?" Lizeth teased. "Aren't they beautiful? Harry, you are very sweet."

Carla facepalmed and sighed. "Stop it Lizeth. You're overreacting again."

Harry smiled as he watched Carla and Lizeth. "Can I have your best friend for an hour?" Harry asked Lizeth.

"Sure, you're always welcome."

Carla gave Lizeth a look saying 'don't say anything'. But instead of keeping quiet, Lizeth laughed as she turned away to give Harry and Carla a space to talk.

AFTER three months, Harry and Carla officially became a couple. They were dating already when Zach, a transferee, started courting Lizeth.

Carla and Lizeth were in the canteen having their snack when Carla asked Lizeth about her feelings towards Zach.

Lizeth just shrugged her shoulders and smiled.

"Zach is a good looking man and he has a good personality, too. He is an ideal man. What else are you looking for? Isn't he perfect?"

Zach became a suitor of Lizeth since the former stepped in the campus. He was new so he didn't know anyone in the school. He was wandering on his first day and didn't know where to go when Lizeth saw him and decided to help him. Lizeth became the tour guide of Zach for that day. Before the sun set, Zach asked Lizeth for a date.

Lizeth sighed heavily before answering. "I'm not yet ready to enter in a relationship."

"I don't understand. I thought you like him."

Lizeth just looked at Carla's puzzled face without saying anything. After a few minutes, Harry called. Carla asked her if she wanted to go with her. She smiled sadly and refused. She said she wanted to be alone.

Worry was all over Carla's face and she started to ask what's wrong. But
Lizeth pretended to be okay.

Carla was not convinced but she needed to attend to Harry. He called and said that he was sick. She made a quick glance to Lizeth before she stepped towards the door and left.
