Games, Vlogs, and One Hell of a Ride (Jeanmarco AU)

Chapter 1: Jean

Hey guys! So this is the first fanfiction I've ever written. See, Jean is a youtube gamer, and Marco is a vlogger. Each chapter will alternate between Jean and Marco's POV's, starting with Jean. I hope you enjoy! :D

"Woaaaah, check out that explosion! Woooo!" I marvel at all of the colors my grenade causes.

I move my joystick, my avatar narrowly avoiding a bullet.

"Watch yourself, you asshole!" I say to my comrade over my mic, laughing. "You almost hit me!"

"Sorry man, there was a guy behind you!" The voice crackled over my head set. I could hear his stifled laughter through my head phones.

"Tch, whatever."

I've known Reiner long enough to know he would totally kill me just to piss me off, even if he made our team lose the game.

"Dude, get that last guy! Dude. DUDE HE'S RIGHT THERE, SHOOT HIM, SHOOT HIM!" I scream into Reiner's head phones.

"SHOOT HIM, SHOOT HIM, SHOOT HIM, SHOOT--"

"Shut up, Horse Face, I see him!" He says irritably as he puts a bullet through the enemy's head, ending the game.

"YEAAAAH!" I scream excitedly.

Man, I love this game.

"Hey, stop screaming! You're gonna deafen me, Horse Face!" He says, audibly smirking.

"Stop calling me Horse Face, Princess Muscles." I shoot back.

Princess Muscles? I question myself, mentally facepalming.

Reiner starts snorting at my failed attempt to insult him. "'Princess Muscles?' Ha! Don't get butthurt because I killed the last guy."

"Fuck you," I say, earning a chuckle from him.

I look at the clock and realize it's already 9:30 "Shit, I gotta go man. I have pre-cal homework."

"Yeah, all right. Later."

I click off my headset and pause my voice recorder.

Not the best outro for a video, but eh. I'll edit one in later. I pick up my laptop from the carpet and check through my channel.

Hey, a new subscriber! I think excitedly.

I've been gaming on youtube for almost a year now, and I've almost reached 20,000 subscribers. It may not be much, but I'm fucking proud.

I sigh contentedly, and minimize my youtube page. Now I groan as I pull up my pre-calculus assignment. I start typing some bullshit about how exponents affect real life, but I'm still thinking about my channel.

I need variety. I think. All I do are games. If i want my channel to grow, I should do other stuff.

Pushing my homework aside for a moment, I go to youtube and pull up one of my favorite channels ever.

CaptainFreckles.

His real name is Marco. He has a way of always making me laugh, and he inspires me every day.

Freckles doesn't game like I do. He vlogs. He talks about his life, he gives life hacks, and he collabs with other youtubers. You would think it boring, but it's always fun to watch.

I want to be like that.

To inspire people, and to be such a confident person, like Marco. I scroll through some of his recent videos, and one sticks out to me.

It's titled 'Ragers: Stay The Hell Away From Them' and the thumbnail is a picture of Marco screaming and clutching a computer mouse.

He games? I think incredulously. That's news.

I click play and watch as CaptainFreckles fails miserably again and again at Unfair Platformers.

This. Is. Amazing.

Once the video ends, I'm laughing so hard that I'm crying. I sit there for a minute and think about how awesome it was to see CaptainFreckles struggle with games like I have.

I wish I could play with him sometime. I sigh.

But wait. I could.

I think about actually speaking to my inspiration, and actually playing games with him and talking with him and maybe making other kinds of collab videos.

Maybe he's the variety I need!

I put my excitement on hold for a moment and realize it's already almost 10 PM.

"Shit," I whisper to myself. I still have that assignment to write. Pulling up my Word Docs, I start typing again. Although I type about exponents, I'm still thinking about CaptainFreckles.
