With a positive boost in our relationship, I'm more in love with Jake than I have been for a while and it feels amazing. With all these great feelings, my work has been going quickly and life at home is even better than before. Everything is working out in a happy way for the first time in a long time and I'm more than open to the change.
A few days after Jake last came over, he decides he wants to come over again and this time he's taking me on a date. He won't tell me the details and I don't push him because his surprises are always adorable. He's simply perfect.
As ten in the morning approaches, the time we're supposed to go on our date, I quickly pull on my best clothes, dark blue skinny jeans and a green blouse, and I style my hair into loose waves, the kind of waves that I've heard make men go weak at their knees. Once my black converse are on, I feel complete and ready for the date. It may not be date appropriate, but it's Sam and Jake appropriate and that's what matters.
"What are you doing?" Jace wonders as I'm finishing tying my shoes, sitting at the top of the stairs. He's just gotten at of bed, so his hair is all over the place and he has big circles under his eyes, appearing almost like a zombie.
It's a little early for Halloween there, Jace...
"I'm going on a date with Jake," I tell hm factually as I get up from sitting and walk down the stairs. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going back to bed," he mumbles, turning around to slump back in his room. It's probably for the best; ever since we graduated, Jace has been one of the biggest night owls to roam the earth. I shrug my shoulders and go sit on the couch to wait for my boyfriend. If I wasn't so excited for the date, I'd find a way to torture Jace while he's so tired.
Jake comes about ten minutes late, which was to be expected for him; he has a lot going on. I recognize his truck and leap over to the door to watch him as he approaches our house. When he comes to the door, I open the door, run straight to his arms, and give him a great big hug.
"Jake!" I squeal at him with a huge grin on my face, kissing him on the cheek. He smiles and hands me a bouquet of flowers that he was holding behind his back.
"Hey, Sam," he smiles back as I gawk over the flowers. I take them from him and give him a kiss on the lips this time.
"Aw, you are so sweet! You didn't have to do this," I exclaim. They aren't just any flowers; they're tulips, my most favorite!
"I didn't have to, but I wanted to," he says. "I've been growing them in my back yard for you and they just happened to be ready right on time."
"Have I ever told you how amazing you are?" I ask.
"Ah, not sure," he chuckles, a blush forming on his cheeks. I kiss them once more before running the bouquet of flowers in the house so they don't get ruined. I put them in the sink knowing that if my mom sees them, she'll put them in a vase, and I run back out to Jake. He's shuffling around in his truck when I get outside and I go to him as he looks around his car for something like a madman.
"I swear it's here somewhere," Jake mutters under his breath as he grabs things and throws them around in difference directions. I come around the back side of his car and trail my hand along the side to give him a little space as he looks. His car isn't even that messy, so it's surprising that he's got so many things to throw around.
"What's wrong?" I ask, coming up beside him. He gives me a small glance before continuing to search his car for whatever seems to be so important.
"It looks like I forgot something. Ugh, that's annoying," he pouts.
"It's okay, we can do something else," I try to reassure him, putting my hand on his right bicep.
"This is something I've been planning for awhile, but the opportunity hasn't come up until now and to not do it after all the planning I've done would be awful. I think I 'll just run back home for a minute, is that okay? I would take you with, but it's kind of a surprise."
