An Unexpected Boss

Chapter One: An unexpected meeting

"My name is Lilly" I said my cheeks started to turn pink. He smiled at me. "Nice to meet you Lilly" He said. "And you are?" I asked trying to be sexy and not awkward. I was failing miserably. "Max. The name is Max" he said with a slight smile. "Cool" I said. "So, um, I find you very attractive and I'd love to stay and chat but it's late" I said. His smile grew wider as he looked at me, lust filling his eyes. "It's only 9:00 pm" he said smiling. "I don't want to dance with you" I said. "Why?" he asked amused. "because at a club dancing leads to one night stands, I don't do one night stands" I said as I walked away.

"Hey guys" I said smiling at my friends. "who was that guy you were talking to and why did you leave him!" Kary exclaimed. "Oh hey Lilly you look nice, how have you been it's been awhile" I mocked. "Haha very funny" she said. "Omg omg omg" she said bouncing up and down. "What" I said giving her a puzzled look. "Turn around" she said smiling.

When I turned around there he was. I rolled my eyes. "Stalking me I see" I said. Was I flirting? "Dance with me" he said with a smirk. "No thanks" I said firmly. He put his hands around my waist pulling me towards him. "Could you please remove your hands from my waist" I said pushing him away. "I already told you that I'm not interested."

He leaned close to my face and I could see the specs of green in his blue eyes. My heart sank, he was gorgeous. He got right up to my ear and whispered "I find you very attractive and would love to dance with you." I smiled he was good. I grabbed his hand and led him to the dance floor. I wasn't an idiot I knew what would happen after we danced. For the first time I was going to break my no one night stand rule, and I was excited. I never broke the rules.

4 weeks later
"Hey Kary" I said rushing into the firms meeting room. I was 5 min late, and to most that is nothing but to me it felt like I was an hour late. "hey girl, you're late how surprising" she mocked. "yeah yeah my alarm clock didn't go off, I got ready in like 5 min" I said. "I hate you" she said. "What why" I said feigning upset. "You look better than me, and it only took you 5 minutes! what are you a robot?" she teased. we burst out laughing, getting a few glances from the other employees. "Ok everybody quiet down, there is work that needs to be done" Said a familiar voice. "Who is he?" Kary whispered to me. "I'm your new boss" we heard him say as he turned around.

"The name is Max Greenfield and my father decided it was time that I take over the firm" he said. "I know what you are thinking, that I am some trust fund child who doesn't deserve this position, but I can assure you that you are wrong. This week I will assess each and everyone one of you. Some of you will be fired, so you better do your best work."

Everyone was outraged, but I was still in shock at the man standing before me. Max. Max. Max. This was why I didn't do one night stands. I started panicking, I felt like I couldn't breath. "Are you ok" Kary asked with a concerned face. "Remember like 4 weeks ago when I had that one night stand?" I asked. "What you had a one night stand. what about your rule, what about oh I have enough self respect to not sleep with a stranger blah blah blah" she teased. "That's beside the point" I exclaimed annoyed. "That's him" I said embarrassed. She looked at me confused, but then she understood. she opened her mouth to say something, but she was interrupted.

"Quiet!" Max yelled. "I am the boss I make the rules whether you like them or not." he eyed everyone in the room. When he met my glance his eyes lingered for a moment and then he continued with his business. "The first person that I will be meeting with is London Lewis."
Of course It was me. "That's me" I said standing up almost falling over. "Meet me in my office in 5 min" he said leaving the room.

I don't know what upset me the most. The fact that I had slept with my boss, or the fact that he clearly didn't remember me.

I knocked on his door waiting for permission to enter. He didn't say anything, so after waiting a minute I opened the door. "Hello?" I asked as I entered the room. "Please have a seat Ms. Lewis" he said. I was sweating. What would happen if he remembered me? Would he fire me. Oh god I'm might get fired. I started to panic again. "Are you ok?" he asked me calmly. "I'm fine" I squeaked. He smiled. "Do I know you ?" he asked. I didn't know what to say, should I lie?. "I'm don't believe so" I lied. He stared at me, our eyes meeting for a second. I adverted his gaze. "So my father says that you are his best worker"

At that I looked at him confused. "Really?" I asked. He chuckled and nodded his head. "He thinks I'm better than Lisa?" I asked shocked. "Modest I like that" he said. "Clearly you aren't being fired" he said. I breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm promoting you"

I smiled. I just smiled I didn't say anything. I must look like an idiot. "You deal with law suits right?" he asked. I nodded. "How would you like to be a defense attorney?" he asked. I was surprised. I've always wanted to work on criminal cases but the only position that was open was lawsuits. "I would love it thank you so much, when do I start" I asked too enthusiastically. I mentally told myself to calm down.

"You'll start Monday, and your office is right across from mine" he stated. I smiled. "Thank you" I said as I got up and headed for the door. "London" he said before I exited the room. "It was nice to meet you"
"You can call me Lilly" I said as left his office.
