"Hey watch it!" I yelled to a boy passing by. Geez, he made me drop all my books! People these days, so uncivilised. "Come on Cecille! Hurry or we'll be late for history class" my BFF Melissa shouted to me. Argh, history. Worst class ever.
Mel and I tried to push the swarm of sweaty people. When we're out of the crowd, I bumped into someone.

Matthew Burns. The school bad boy.

"Sorry" I mumbled trying to avoid eye contact. "Its alright , beautiful" he replied with a pearly white smile. OMG! WHAT THE? BEAUTIFUL?? I thought. "Cecille come on, NOW!" Mel insisted. "Oh well, let's go Mel" I replied.
I sat though history fiddling with my pen, pretending that I care about the poor laws of 1834 when in reality I was thinking about why Matt would call me beautiful. I mean I wasn't beautiful or fashionable or flirty like the popular girls. I was the 'Good Girl'. I suddenly felt a sharp nudge in my elbow. I yelped. Mrs Mills our teacher gave me a dirty look. "Sorry" I mumbled. "What Mel?" I whisper-shouted. "If you keep on sitting there looking half asleep I tell you what, you'll be in huge trouble" Mel said. And believe it or not, I did get told off for not listening and I had to stay in to pack up after school.
"It's not my fault that history is so boring!" I said to myself. I spent the next half an hour packing up chairs and moving the desks. I was so exhausted, when I wiped my forehead drops of sweat were visible on my hand.
I walked down the empty (and slightly haunted) hall where all our lockers where to get my books. Just when I took my English book out, I felt someone staring or watching me. I spun around to see Matthew with his arms crossed and leaning on his locker which is opposite mine. He had a smirk on his face.
Ring Ring! That was my phone. I got my phone and slammed the answer button down mostly because I was so hell annoyed. Oops, I had accidentally pressed speaker ON! Shit.
"Hi honey, sorry but my boss made me work an extra shift so you'll have to make your own way home and I won't be home for dinner. Sorry bun-bun this is hard for me" my mum said to me. OMG it was so embarrassing having it on speaker phone and Matt could hear every single thing being said. I must've been blushing tomato red by then.
"It's okay mom. See ya." I mumbled. I shoved in my pocket hurriedly.
"So, bun-bun would you like a ride home? Your choice of music" Matt approached me.
"Are you flirting with me?" I shot back with a glare.
"What? Can't I ask a girl if she wants a ride home?" he replied.
I knew he wasn't to give up so I gave in. Hey, it's quicker driving than walking!
I was just about to cross the road, when I felt two muscular hands wrap around my waist and rapidly pulled me back. I yelped. I stared as I saw an Alfa Romeo zoom past. I could've crashed into it! Matt saved me! We were silent for a few seconds. The only noise was my breathing.
"Saved you, didn't I" Matt whispered into my ear sending tingles all around my body.
"Yeah, now can you please let go of me?" I said gently grabbing his hands and taking them off my waist.
Matt laughed "Oh honey, don't be so insecure!"
When we finally crossed the road, Matt opened the passenger seat door for me and I gave him a warm smile and thanked him.
"So what music would you like? See, babe I kept my promise" Matt told me, tapping his forehead.
"Just put on the radio please" I replied tiredly. I leaned back into the comfy leather seat in his car, sighing loudly.
Matt turned the volume down and faced me. "Is something wrong?" he asked me with a caring look.
"Nothing. Just... Just.. There's something on my mind and I don't think I can share it" I stuttered. The thing on my mind was Matt himself. Did he like me or was it just one of the guy things that happen?
Suddenly, I noticed that Matt was still looking at me! "Would you look at the freaking road or do you want us to crash and die?" I screamed. Matt let out a small groan. Guys, I can never understand them.
It was a quiet ride all the way home. I stared out through the window at the passing houses.
It took a long 10 minutes to reach my house. "Thank you so so much Matt, I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't driven me home." He put his hand on mine and squeezed it gently. "It's okay, a friend in need is a friend indeed" he said to him. I rolled my eyes. "Seriously, we have barely talked to each other and now you call us FRIENDS???" I yelled at him and scowled. Matt put his hands up defensively. "Cecille, geez take it easy!" Matt chuckled.
"Matt, do you know how to cook? " I questioned remembering that mum wasn't home.
Matt nodded. "Why?" He asked.
"Well, I can't cook so I was wondering if you could make me something for dinner. Plus, mum said I can't order takeaway" I said. "Sure, princess" Matt replied. I grinned and walked with him to the door.
"Wow, your house is pretty cool!"Matt complimented. I had to admit it was. With the double storey, circular stairs, huge balcony and canal view, it was one of the most prestigious houses in the area.
I sat on our wooden dining table and did my homework while Matt cooked Thai Green Chicken Curry for me. "So,what time do you usually eat dinner?" Matt asked me. "6:30" I replied back without looking up from my algebra sheet. "I eat at 8:00" Matt said. "Okay, okay let me concentrate now!" I snapped.
A few minutes later, Matt called out "Dinner's ready, babe!" I ran to the kitchen because I was so starving! As soon as a took a bit of the steaming hot curry, chicken, veggies and rice, flavour just erupted in my mouth. Every single food complemented and balanced out with all the others; gee, I didn't know Matt could cook that good! "This is absolutely scrumptious" I complimented to Matt. Matt nodded and mumbled,"Thanks" but I could see the smile on his face as he was looking on the floor.
"Why don't you eat some yourself?" I questioned. "You sure?" He asked. I nodded my head as a sign of approval.
We then watched T. V for an hour. I couldn't believe that Matt shared the same tastes as me and we agreed on just about everything. Matt and I laughed and talked to each other when I glanced at my black watch and saw that it was already 8:30. Oh crap, mum could come home any minute! How would she react if she saw an unknown guy in my dinner, eating dinner with me!? My mum is one of those too overprotective types of mums. "Matt, thanks for the dinner but my mum could come home any minute and please hurry up and go!" I speedily yelled. "Calm down geez! Bye, Cecille!" Matt called out as he walked out the door.

I watched his car zoom off into the distance just as Mum came sashayed through the door. "Hi Cecille, I am so so tired! I'm just gonna have some coffee, a shower and be off to bed. OK?" mum said and kissed me on my forehead. I nodded and hugged her back.

That night I went to sleep wondering what the hell had happened between Matt and I today.
