4,000 BC; Earth:

As it drizzled softly, Light danced in the shallow puddles. Light was adored by all in the village. Light was a young girl, golden hair, blue eyes, pale skin. She always wore a soft, bright dress. Her golden hair was naturally curly and always down reaching to her waist. Although many adored her, she only trusted and loved one special person.

His name was Lucio. Lucio had short black hair that was brushed to one side every day. He had olive skin and brown eyes. He never once wore something other than his gray basketball shorts and his black t-shirt. Lucio and Light were the shortest of all the kids in the village, only reaching to about five foot.

They lived in a nice little village in the dark, for there was no sun. It was always freezing. There were no plants, suffocating all around. After generations and adaption, people were able to survive. The small village had crooked, pointy houses, stretching to the sky. The roofs were connected into tall triangles made of brick slabs. The houses were old and smelt of damp wood all year long. Unlike how we live now, there wasn't twenty-four hours in a day; and three hundred sixty-five days in a year. There was one year and no seasons to count off the days. Even though there weren't days, there was still school. As Light and Lucio were in seventh block, they had to learn Iceland culture and language. Because they just started a new lesson, they only were able to spell Iceland. After school they walked to their crooked homes together.

After about three hundred school sessions later, school was over for now. They had one year until school started again for them. Everyone in the town called the year of no school Yns, for Year of no school. About a quarter through Yns, Lucio got sick of what the town called Simon's Warmth' The name was produced from an old tale that Light loved to hear and to tell. A man named Simon got sick and had a terrible disease. Simon roamed around spreading the sickness through the heat and warmth he produced. Light visited Lucio every day. The last time that Light visited Lucio, he was so sick that he was barely breathing. The room was small, and there was only one candle that lit up the dark room. It smelt of throw up and blood. As Light inched closer to the dying boy, she saw the blood coming from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.

There was blood all over the white sheets. His eyes were no longer the dark brown color that she loved. She didn't want to stare into his eyes for hours anymore. She didn't want to feel his pain, but she knew she'd have to. Light jumped at him and grasped him into her arms and hugged him tight. She started to cry as he reached his arms around her torso. He tried to speak but all that came out was a low raspy cough. As she continued to hug him, she sobbed out words that meant so much to her.

"I want you to live, I need you to live. I will trade my body, my life, and my soul for you. You will no longer suffer from this terrible disease!" Light hugged Lucio even tighter and whispered in his bloody ear, "I can't keep it from you any longer. All these years and I have said nothing. I love you." She loosened her grasp and placed his head back on the pillow. She looked into his eyes that were now clearer than ever. Light stormed out of the room and ran down the stairs, into the graveyard, and knelt down at her parents' grave. "I'm sorry. I know this is bad and might not work...but I have to try. I have to ease him from his suffering, I have to make him have a life, and I have to do this for him. I have to." She ran into the forest behind the graveyard and begged to the gods. She begged to ease his suffering, she begged them to help him get a new life. To forever forget the pain.

Light then hung herself under that very tree where she prayed and where Lucio had told her that she was pretty, where he had told her that they were going to be together forever.... where he had told her that he loved her. Her body disintegrated into gold ashes that rose to the sky.

2019; Earth:

The sun shone in the crack between the curtains and the wall. Lucio opened his eyes and headed out of his bedroom. In the kitchen, a beautiful young woman stood over the hot stove and cooked eggs and bacon. For her name was Laura. She had long straight brown hair. She was wearing a flower dress. Lucio walked over to her and kissed her, then hugged his two beautiful daughters. As they sat down for breakfast, he stared into the sun and smiled, for he always had a strange love for the sun, and now he knows why.
