"Sweetheart get up its time for school" Tammy said softly while picking up her daughter walking to the bathroom to give her a morning bath. Today was her first day of daycare and Tammy wanted to get there early to meet Mya's teacher. Mya opened her eyes rubbing them, and Tammy begin undressing
her out of her pajamas.
"come on baby we need to hurry so I want be late for work ok" Tammy said while using the towel to rub behind Mya's ears and under her arms. Mya begin to giggle hysterically showing off both her dimples and little white teeth. Her grey eyes lit up as she laughed so hard she begin to snort.
"Mommy it tickles" she said referring to when she washed under her arms
"well you shouldn't be so stink stink" Tammy said wrinkling up her nose "then I wouldn't have wash under there."
"I don't stink stink mommy"
"of course not because I just washed all the stink stink off" Tammy said smiling "you ready to get out?" Mya bobbed her head up and down, and Tammy grabbed a towel to wrap around Mya.
"mommy why can't I where my princess dress?" Mya whined as they walked out the house to the car.
"Because you have to save your princess dress for the weekend. We have to where regular clothes to daycare" Tammy said as she buckled Mya in her booster seat.
"But mama I don't want to go to daycare. I want to stay which choooo" Mya whined as they pulled out the driveway. Tammy couldn't help but blow out a frustrated sigh. As much as she was gone miss Mya she knew daycare was good for her. She was getting older and needed to be around children her own age. Not with her at the bakery all day.
After leaving the daycare Tammy rushed to the bakery to try and open up on time. Even though she owned the place. Thanks to the more than healthy settlement she receive from her divorce, she always wanted to be on time because of the early morning customers that love their coffee and doughnuts before work.
"Damn" Tammy swore looking at the clock on her dashboard. The bakery was set to open in five minutes, and she was at least fifteen minutes away.
After finally making it to the bakery twenty minutes late, Tammy jumped out the car and rushed to the front door to see it was already open with customers at the front counter and sitting down at the tables eating.
"Goodmorning Ms. Tammy how are you doing this lovely morning" Mr. McMillin greeted from his usually morning booth by the window. He was one of her first ever customers when she first opened the bakery three years ago. He always reminded her of her grandfather with his baseball cap, cain, and surplus of advice.
"I'm doing fine Mr. McMillin just running a little late how about you" Tammy said with a smile stopping to here his reply.
"I'm doing pretty darn well myself this morning" he replied
"That's good....well let me head on to the back and put my things away" Tammy said motioning at her purse and the few bags she had in her hand.
Tammy walked to the counter and saw Mrs. Walker giving the last customer in line their change. Mrs. Walker was also an elderly lady who Tammy hired to help out at the shop when the customers started getting to busy. Her husband died in a car accident ten years ago and really just wanted to get out the house and do something. The way Tammy saw it Mrs. Walker needed her and she needed Mrs. Walker....in more ways then one. She became her second grandmother, Mya adores her and vice versa.
"Mrs. Walker what are you doing here so early you wasn't due to come in until the lunch rush this afternoon" Tammy said after putting her things In the back and coming to stand next to her.
