The weekend flies by in a blur of sleeping and watching movies with Cheyenne. When my squawking alarm goes off I am less than happy. I pull my tired body from the sheet and look over at the sticky note Mike had left on Friday night. I hadn't moved it and it brought a smile to me when I saw it.

I pull on a dark blue work dress that hugs me just right with black heels.

This routine that had been created and repeated everyday for weeks suddenly felt strange. How was Alex going to react? Where did this put us? What about Mike? Months have passed and I hate to admit it but Alex is actually great. Up until our date that blind sided me. Up until that point I hadn't questioned his motives. But now I wonder how long he had been planning that. How long had he been thinking of only my body or how I would listen to his every command because of a contract.

Then there was Mike. Mike and I have little conversations at the beginning and end of each day. He's truly the sweetest person I've ever met. He walks me home every Friday night with his constant puns and we all eat and watch a movie. This weekend was the only weekend that Chey hadn't been there with us. I had never questioned Mike's motives and he proved that he would never put me or my reputation on the lie. No matter how badly either of us wanted the other.

I walk into work like normal, "Good morning, Mike." I brightly smile to him.

"Hello, Vodka. How's my lovely lady doing today." He asks

"I'm very well." I comment. "And you, good sir?" The fake English accent rolling playfully off my tongue.

"My morning was just made." He calls as the elevater doors close.

My smile never falters as make my way to the conjoined offices where I worked with Alex.

I open the door to see bare legs wrapped tightly around a plump butt that is clenching with each thrust.

"Alex!?" My voice cracks as any image of him and I together crashes.

"CJ," he groans then tightening all over as he finishes into the whore on his desk. I only see her for a moment but I recognize her. She was the old secretary that was before me. Alex had a picture of them at a company Christmas party on one of his shelves within the office.

I slam the door before running into the elevator. I no longer had to question what Alex really wanted. He had made it VERY  clear. Tears had already spilled for no reason really. Once the doors let me through I slam into Mike who was patrolling the lobby.

"Vodka? What happed? Why are you crying?" His voice was rushed while he assessed the situation. The elevator dinged which signaled it was at the main floor. Alex ran out as soon as the doors would let him. Like a caged animal being let free for the first time he looked for his prey as soon as he was let out.

"CJ, you can't just run out like that, we have a contract!" He grabbed my arm forcefully in any hope to keep me with him.

"You broke the damn contract by sleeping with that girl while dating me, jackass." I yelled then pulling myself out of his grip.

There was a loud crack sound as Alex flew back onto the ground. I turn to look at Mike who was rubbing his knuckles from the impact. "I can't believe I just did that." He whispers to himself more than me. As reality sets in he grabs my hand and runs out the door. Alex had to have a broken nose after the hit he had just received.

"What are you doing? You're going to get yourself fired." I ask while he drags me to my apartment.

He stops dead in his tracks to look me in the eyes so he knows I can hear every word of what he is about to say, "I can always find a new job. I can't find another you."

We run as the sun starts to peak over the skyscrapers that kiss the sky. The lights of night zoom past us as we continue running. Of all the times I had walked to my house with Mike, the lights had never looked so beautiful. So free.

Once we reach the appointment I let him in, our hands are still interlocked. "Did you mean that?" I whisper almost inaudible after our breath are both back to normal.

He steps close enough that I can feel the heat radiating off of his body. "Every word." His voice is thick and soothing like honey in tea on a rainy day. I peered up at his face that is inches from mine. His eyes were shifting from my eyes to my lips and back again almost pleading him to kiss me. I smile unsure at him before I take his face in my hands lightly and press my lips to his. It is slow and long as where Alex's kisses where hard and demanding. This meant something, something more than anything else I had ever had.

He broke off first. "You only did that because I told you what you wanted to hear right after your breakup." He sighs with a true sadness. His head hanging low as proof that he truly believed what he had just spoken.

"Stay with me. Let me show you its real." I whisper back before hugging him. Wrapped up in his arms I feel safe and happy, feelings I haven't felt in a very long time.

He sighed in defeat knowing that my tone alone had won the in unproclaimed fight.
