"Alive?" I asked. "You saved me... Didn't you?"
"We didn't," Adoxeor shook his head. "We rescued you from a death that should've came days ago. Your spine was fractured in numerous places, with your rib bone collapsing against your heart. Most of your vital organs had already started shutting down. We thought Riodhir might have taken pity on you, left you alive to die by your body's own accord... But the forest wouldn't do that for the race of Men. This forest was enchanted to show no mercy.
"When we brought you in, we noticed that most of your organs had revived themselves on their own accord, and your shattered bone fragments had already shifted away from your heart." Adoxeor explained, as he beaconed me to come sit across from him.
"My body began to heal itself?" I asked. My hand reached up to touch the injuries, but they were no longer there.
"Miraculously so. I believe that's why the forest let you live, and why it lead my apprentice to you. When Cederic saw you collapse, you omitted this white flame that pooled around your body. It disappeared when he touched your neck to stop you from hitting the ground, but he was positive it was some sort of Magikal entity- Come in."
Adoxeor stopped mid sentence. I hadn't heard anyone knock, but by his command, the door to his study slowly opened.
A man entered the room moments later. I couldn't make out much of his facial features, but as he grew closer, I could see his piercing blue eyes from under his cloak. His hands went up to remove his hood, yet he hesitated slightly when his eyes found mine.
"You're awake." His voice came out a bit rougher than I expected.
I nodded, watching as he fully removed his hood to expose his unexpectedly sharp features. He looked a little older than I thought he would. His hair was a longer blonde that fell just above his broad shoulders.
"Arya, this is my apprentice, Cederic. Cederic, this is Arya."
I nodded my head once at him and he in return, did the same.
"I've called you here, Cederic, so we could talk about the next step in your training." Adoxeoxer said as he stood up, "I want you to take Arya in under your wing. Teach her about the art of bending Magik."
"Allister, I think I could be of more use to you if I was tasked with something else." Cederic replied. His eyes glanced back to find me fidgeting with the hem of the cloak's sleeve.
"Do you remember that conversation we had about obedience? There will come a day where I ask you to do something far greater, with no questions asked. You will need to trust me for now. I'm looking into this, but in the meantime, teach her. There's nothing more dangerous than an uncontrolled Magik bender." Adoxeor replied, as he moved passed us. "She almost wiped out the forest trying to heal herself." He added, before disappearing down the darkened corridor.
"I did?" I asked quietly, more to myself. I did my best to try remembering the events that had lead up to me falling unconscious. All I had felt at that moment, was weak.
"Your energy was imbalanced when I found you. Your body was about to combust, and there's no telling what magik that would have released. When I touched you, it was like you absorbed it all back inside of yourself." Cederic explained, as he took Adoxeor's seat.
"There's no way any of this can be true. There is nothing magical about me. I've lived within those cities walls all my life." I was about to explain to Cederic how Lord Darkmore had taken me in, but I caught myself quickly.
"I don't know either, but Allister is right, whatever Magik you have inside of you is highly unstable."
"Allister?" I remembered hearing Cederic say that name earlier.
