Chapter 4: 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥

"Well, well, well. We meet again."

First Person POV:

"LET ME OUT YOU FREAK!" I screamed at him.

The shadow slowly formed into a human being. He looked especially familiar to me.

"I didn't think I could see you again, y/n." He said.

"Wha..How do you know my name?"

"You don't remember me?"

His demonic laughter filled the room.

"YOU'RE GOING TO PAY AFTER WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO MY BROTHER."

I just remembered. It was him, Zach's older brother. I defeated his brother during the shadow wars between the Bright Shadows and the Gloomy Shadows. I saw a purple light beaming brightly as it started aiming towards me. I dodged it and hastily fuse fire and green into green flame. I tried to target his body but he kept running around me swiftly, creating afterimages of himself.

"Crap! I had my chance!" I said when I missed my shot.

His afterimages slowly disappeared but I felt something behind me. I moved in front slowly checking every corner of the room for his body.

"I will seek revenge."

A warm breath hit my neck as I turned around to see him with Lloyd's elemental sword, its sharp tip pointing directly between my eyes.

Instinctively, I did the spinjitzu and made some distance between myself and him. I hastily jumped to the corner of the room. I had to quickly think of how to stop him and thought about freezing him onto the floors.

"Hope you're feeling warm cus I'm going to cool you down!"

I shot dark ice at him, confident he would be frozen to the ground but he managed to absorb my powers. I was stunned to see a being immune to my powers.

Even before a second had passed, he jumped on me with his hands grasping on my throat, leaving me without air. I tried to pry his fingers away but I was slowly losing consciousness. My head started spinning as I used my last breath to scream for help. My vision started to blur and all I see is his eyes burning with emptiness and anger. I thought my time was done until I heard the door barge open.

"Let her go!" Lloyd demanded and used his powers to defeat him. Unfortunately, it wasn't that fatal so he survived.

"ARGH! I WILL GET MY REVENGE BACK!"

He vanished in thin air. Left helpless at a corner, I was gasping for air while crying as my neck was in much pain. Red handprints could be seen on it.

"My powers are completely useless... I am...useless..." I mumbled to myself.

"Don't say that. You did well handling that son of a bitch alone." Kai comforted.

"I was the one that brought him here...I'm sorry."

"It's completely fine!" Jay said while trying to get me back up.

I wiped my tears and went out the room to recover and do some training.

After hours of training, I sat down, wondering how am I going to achieve the second-tier of my powers. I have seen the ninjas fight, and yes, they are very powerful. I could say they are slightly systematic when it comes to team fights. They can work together and communicate well. But for me, even after battling numerous villains and bizarre creatures with their intention to kill, my powers are completely weak.

I have 3 stages of potentials. First, beginners' start. Second, elements and power. Third, my true potential when I get my second-tier of powers. I feel like my progression is stagnant.

I strolled by the dorms and in one of them, I saw Lloyd on the couch reading a comic book. I quietly snuck in.

"Hey, what are you up to?" I asked.

"Nothing, just reading."

"Uhm.. Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"Any advice to reaching your true potential?"

He stopped reading his comic and passed me a piece of cookie.

"Well, all you need is faith, (bites cookie)
just believe you can do it." (munches) He said between bites. "Find what's distracting your focus and let fate choose your destiny."

"You're right... I think it's my emotions thats stopping me. It's just- (pauses) , ever since my dad died, everything hasn't been the same anymore. He died in a battle with Lord Zylepth and gave me his last bag of traveler's tea to escape death. The portal opened to earth and that's how I ended up here. Honestly, I've never felt more alone."

"Hey, hey...you have us. We'll treat you like our true friend!" He said cheerfully, showing me his precious smile.

I returned the smile and thanked him. I left the room, fondling with my pockets when I felt something solid in it. I took it out and it turns out to be a crystal. I was mystified by the appearance of it. I ran to the ninja's room to ask if they knew what the crystal was for.

"Guys!"

" Yea?" Jay answered while he was playing his video game with Zane.

"Have you seen this crystal before?"

They both paused their match and neared the crystal in my hand.

"Woahh, it's so shiny!" Cole said. He was pretty amused by it.

(Zane scans and analyses the crystal)

"Scanning done. Data says this crystal could bring us to a realm called 'doomland'. That's where the elemental zombies you spoken of are at." Zane said.

this is bad news.. (crosses arms)

"We're not ready to face them. Keep it somewhere safe so no one can carelessly open the portal to the realm." I said while passing the crystal to Kai.

"You're capable of protecting this right?" I asked.

He nods his head and took the crystal away from me.

(door knocks)

The ninjas went to check it out and I heard them yelling heartily.

"Pixal, you're back!"
