Chapter Thirteen:

Jessica's POV;

The annual pool party arrived much sooner than expected, or rather the weekend of it did. Everyone was excited, and that was practically the only thing discussed at the lunch table as well. Jake and Lindsey decided to come after I convinced them but they didn't seem interested in the party.
It was Friday, one day before the party and the discussion was as hot as ever. "What colour bikini are you wearing?" Wendy asked me.
I could feel Jason's arm around me tighten, as I stared blatantly at Wendy and replied, "Not sure if I'm going to wear one actually. I haven't worn one in ages, so I need a new one."
"Then let's go shopping today, I need a few things as well." Samantha added as she looked up from her food.
"Uh," I wasn't sure about this whole let's buy a bikini with my boyfriends female friends thing, cause I knew they would ask him which colour or maybe even tell him which one I bought, which would be awkward. "I would love too." I didn't say no though, probably because I wanted to bond with them.
Jason pulled me closer to him, as he sighed. "I'll pick her from the mall at six."
"We plans today?" I asked frowning.
"Now we do." He said raised his eyebrow.
*
Saturday morning, or rather 1 pm which was morning for me, I was woken up with various calls from everyone. Lindsey, Jake, Jason, Aaron, and so many people that I eventually gave up on sleep and sat up to finish my assignments for Monday.
Friday night was probably the only time Jason and I avoided or rather chose not to discuss the pool party, the discussion was getting to our heads and that was it, it was a good night.
Jason said he would pick me at 8 so we could go to the party, that meant I had till 7 to complete all the assignments. I texted him my plans and kept my phone away, quickly finishing the work and once I was done it was almost 7, and I went for a shower.
*
We were at the party then, and the preparations were insane. The group was limited and good, people were enjoying themselves and having booze as usual and Jason and I were just casually sitting by the pool when Aaron walked up to us with a very familiar face and knots tied in my stomach. I felt awkward suddenly.
We stood up, as Aaron approached us, "Guys this is Nathan, Nathan this is Jason and Jessica."
"I know Jessica." Nathan grinned and pulled me in a tight hug, and when he pulled back I felt suffocated. I felt Jason's arm around me, strongly.
"She's his girlfriend." Aaron said awkwardly noticing Jason. "So Nathan just shifted back here, he went to Spain for a few years and he used to live here before too."
"Of course Jess knows," Nathan grinned.
"I need a drink," I said looking up to Jason, hoping it would distract him and his anger would be controlled. Truth was my waist was hurting now with his grip.
"Let's get you one." Jason said darkly, removing his hands off my waist and walking forward showing he was pissed at me too. I followed him, but he didn't go to the bar, he went to the garden where nearby at the patio there were candles lit up, if I wasn't worried I'd probably find it beautiful.
"Jason, I can't get a drink here." I said trying to see what he'd say.
He turned around, frowning. "Fuck the drink, is he the Nathan you dated?"
"Um, yeah." I wanted to lie to prevent the jealousy or the possessiveness but lying didn't seem like a good idea.
"And you hugged him?" He seemed outraged with the idea, and that led me to take a step back.
"He hugged me." I said irritated by the accusation. "If you didn't let your judgements get clouded, it would help."
Jason sighed. "I saw what I saw, and next time I will not respect that it's Aaron's house. So there better be no next time."
"Who do you even think you are?" I asked irritated by his egoistic attitude.
"Jessica, come here!" Aaron came from the corner and maintained his distance, but I could tell he came to prevent a huge fight. And I followed him without another word to Jason.
After I left Jason, I was with Jake and Lindsey, avoiding Jason when he came back to the party area, and Nathan joined us. It was like old times, so we all got along pretty well. But it wasn't like I forgot Jason's existence, my eyes wandered off to him, hoping his gaze was still on me and at the same time hoping it wasn't. However every time I looked, it was on me, even while he talked to others.
"I'm gonna go get something to drink, you guys want anything?" I asked.
"Nope," Jake and Lindsey answered.
"I'll come with." Nathan answered and we went to the kitchen, I picked up a drink and turned to go back outside when I bumped into Nathan who stood extremely close.
"Nathan, let's go?" I said feeling awkwardly close.
"I missed you." He said as I felt him close the distance between us within seconds and pressing his lips onto mine. It took a second to realise what was happening and I tried to push him off me, but he was persistent and evidently under the influence. I used all the strength I had, but it was not enough, and I even tried to look away, but he grabbed my head. Call it good luck or bad luck, but someone pulled him off me and when I saw who it was, it wasn't shocking to see Jason.
Anger flared into his skin and his actions didn't say otherwise, he punched Nathan thrice, and before the fourth time, Nathan hit him with what he caught first- a glass on his hand. Jason's hand started to bleed a bit but he went for another punch, but before he could, he was pulled back by Aaron who just entered.
"What the fuck Jason?"
"He kissed her." Jason said, his jaws clenched. Then he looked at me, held my hand and pulled me out of the room. His grip spread excruciating pain in my wrist, and it was almost like a bruise building up.
"Jason leave my hand."
He eventually did leave it, by that time we stood alone in the garden again. "Great job Jess."
"Great job?" I questioned feeling irritated. "Shouldn't I say that to you?"
"Hah, cute." He said rolling his eyes. He was still angry. "I'm so fucking sick of this. If you didn't want to be true to me why'd you do this?"
"I didn't kiss him. Are you seriously doubting me?" I didn't expect this.
"Yeah I am, because apparently you don't mind getting back together with your ex-boyfriend."
"I didn't even kiss him back," I said. "He was too strong to push off, and he was drunk."
"Oh."
"You didn't have to hit him, why are you such a jerk Jason?"
"Because I need to protect what's mine, okay? He tried to take you from me." He replied frowning in anger.
"What even makes you think I'm yours? I'm not a fucking property Jason, never was and never will be. And even if I was, I wouldn't be yours."
Silence surrounded us, Jason was pissed off or worse, he was boiling inside the words I had just said. "Two hours back I was sure I was in love with you, now I'm just doubting why." And with that Jason walked out off.
